Designing a streamlined process for verifying news and earning rewards with the Rumi news app.

In today’s world, misinformation spreads like wildfire. Social media, biased reporting, and clickbait headlines often blur the line between fact and fiction, leaving individuals vulnerable to false information. The challenge is clear: how do we empower people to distinguish between real and fake news, while fostering a trustworthy community dedicated to the truth?
This is where Rumi news steps in!
Ruminews bridges the gap between overwhelming information and reliable news. By empowering users to verify news articles through a simple, user-friendly platform, we aim to build a community that prioritizes the truth.
Imagine an app where you can easily engage with news, vote on its authenticity, and contribute to a larger mission of combating misinformation. With intuitive navigation, real-time feedback, and a focus on individual judgment, Rumifaki brings credibility back to the information age.

📝 Understanding the Problem & Research Approach
Identifying the Problem
This project was born out of a personal frustration with the growing prevalence of fake news. Like many others, I often found it difficult to discern reliable sources from misleading ones. Conversations with peers revealed a similar concern — a need for a platform that makes news verification accessible and credible.
Pain Points & Key Findings
- Overload of Information: Users are bombarded with news daily, making it difficult to filter fact from fiction.
- Lack of Trust: There is widespread distrust in traditional media and social media platforms due to biased reporting and misinformation.
- Need for Privacy: Users prefer to make independent judgments without being influenced by others’ opinions, highlighting the importance of vote privacy.
- Desire for Credibility: People crave a platform that not only provides news but also validates its authenticity, reinforcing their trust in the information they consume.
Target Audience
- Age Range: 18–45 years old
- Location: Global, with a focus on urban areas
- Profession: Students, working professionals, journalists, and anyone with a vested interest in credible news
- Income Level: Middle to upper-middle class
- Traits: Critical thinkers, information seekers, and individuals concerned about the accuracy of news
Competitor Analysis
Insights:
- Existing Platforms: Current news apps and social media platforms often prioritize speed and sensationalism over accuracy, leading to the spread of misinformation.
- Gaps in the Market: While some platforms offer fact-checking services, they lack user engagement, No platforms offer a reward system for verifying news or allow users to earn and convert rewards.
By understanding user needs, target audience, and the limitations of existing competitors, Rumi was crafted to address market gaps. We emphasized user empowerment, trust, and a smooth experience to build a platform dedicated to authentic information. Rumi uniquely offers a reward system where users earn RumiCoins for their contributions, which can be exchanged for USDT or exclusive coupons. Users can engage with top stories, submit news, and participate in the verification process, thereby influencing the truth.

🌟Visual Guidelines
To ensure a consistent and user-friendly experience for the Rumi News app, I developed a style guide centered around a fresh and vibrant color palette. I selected the bright tone of #19EFDB to create a modern and engaging look, reinforcing clarity and trust throughout the app.

The splash screen features the Rumi news logo, a clean and minimalist design that welcomes users to the app.
🤗Onboarding
Onboarding screens serve as a welcoming gateway for new users. Designed with care, they offer a seamless and engaging introduction, ensuring users feel confident and excited from the very start. These screens set the stage for an empowering journey, guiding users effortlessly into their first experience of exploring, voting, and submitting news while earning rewards.
📲Login/Signup
The login process is simple and efficient, allowing users to quickly enter their details and access the main content with ease.
🏡Home screen
The home screen is the heart of the app, offering a personalized gateway to the platform’s core features. It introduces users to their journey, providing quick access to news submissions, voting options, and their reward status, all while aligning with their interests and engagement history.
🗳️Vote screen
Users can browse and select news articles, then quickly vote whether they believe the news is "Fake" or "Real." There is a confirmation step to ensure accuracy before submission, and users can save articles to review later, making the process simple and engaging.
📨 Inbox screen
streamlines news verification with filters for Verified, Unverified, and Pending statuses. Users earn or lose tokens (+10/-5) for correct or incorrect identifications. News is labeled “Fake,” “Real,” or “Pending,” with detailed explanations and source links for trust. Transaction history is also tracked, showing completed swaps and amounts received.
📰 News screen
News screen is designed for a seamless and intuitive experience, guiding users through card-based category selection, easy news submission, and customizable content filtering options to tailor their feed to their interests.
🏆Reward screen
The rewards flow is designed to be intuitive and engaging. Users can easily track their progress, manage their tokens and coupons, and unlock exclusive deals and jackpots, all within a streamlined and visually appealing interface.
Swap screen
The Swap Screen allows you to instantly convert RumiCoin to USDT, view the current exchange rate, and access your transaction history. It’s a simple and efficient way to manage your token conversions.
History screen
The screen you’re showcasing allows users to review their previous token swap history. It provides a detailed overview of past transactions, including the amounts swapped, the amounts received, and the completion status.
🧑🏻My Account screen
The “My Account” screen is designed to provide users with a centralized and streamlined hub for managing their accounts and preferences. Here’s a breakdown of its features:
- Account Details: Displays personal information like name, DOB, mobile number, email, PAN number, Demat account number
- Refer: Invite Friends on Rumi: Users can invite friends to join the platform, possibly earning rewards for referrals.
- Balance Information: Shows your current Rumi token balance earned through voting It also displays your balance from swapping tokens into USDT.
- Bank Details: Provides options for managing linked bank accounts and setting up or modifying auto-payment mandates.
- Customer Support: Offers access to customer support, including FAQs and contact options for assistance anytime.
- Settings screen: you can update your password or PIN for enhanced security, delete your account to remove all data permanently, or log out to end your current session.

✨Reflection and learnings
- Gained a deeper understanding of how users interact with news verification platforms, balancing user needs with platform goals.
- Recognized the crucial role of trust, with user participation being vital in building a trustworthy community invested in accurate information.
- Learned the importance of a smooth user flow, clear UX writing, and strong visual cues in enhancing the overall user experience during the verification process.
- Discovered the impact of microcopy — small yet powerful text elements that guide user behavior and build confidence through clear, thoughtful instructions.
