You can’t fault investors for their decisions in the past! You had no guarantee that AirBnB would pay off like that, so, at that time, it was as speculative as anything else. How many “good ideas” and “great entry level opportunities” have been pitched before, during and after your own pitch that have never amounted to anything profitable.
