There is such a level of truth to this satire, that it almost (but not completely) negates the hilarity of this piece.

I left college at barely 21 years old to travel…for a living mind you and spent my entire 20’s traversing the globe and taking in the sights, sounds, culture, and humanity of other countries.

Not only was my perspective of life and humanity completely changed, but more so how I viewed myself. Prior to my travels I was in my mind, a black kid from South Central L.A and felt that’s how the world saw me. After my ventures I stopped reacting to how I expected to be treated, and opened up to accepting how wells others would treat me, and vice versa.

It ruined me. Because when I came back to the “real world” of work in corporate America, my ability to live within the narrow confines we are assigned in our culture, disabled me from attempting to live my life based on the societal expectations of other people.

My ability to open my mind and accept the differences in people, was measured hard against my learned impatiences with narrow minds, and labels. I began to see adults around me some that I’ve known for years as merely “babes” in the wood.

That said…I HIGHLY recommend anyone in their 20’s (or 30’s) travel the world, and have your mind blown wide open!
