Americans are drinking less soda than ever before. In its place, sparkling water provides all of the ice cold can refreshment of a carbonated soft drink, but with none of the sugars, sweeteners of artificial ingredients. Sales of sparkling water have grown by over 50% over the last 5 years and with the US soda market worth $39billion, this is just the beginning and sparkling water is the future. Ugly Drinks is a range of 100% natural fruit flavored sparkling waters with NO sugar, NO sweetener, NO calories and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING artificial. Just the way we like it.
Currently in three flavors (watch this space for more); Lemon Lime, Cherry and Peach, it’s the perfect alternative to traditionally sweetened soft drinks and when it’s ice cold…hits the spot!

What is the role?
Ugly Drinks is seeking a full-time, Director of DTC.
This Director of DTC will be responsible for leading the growth of and team behind uglydrinks.com. The role will be responsible for growing revenue, delivering an amazing customer experience, building the brand and acquiring new customers. This includes managing strategic planning, digital product development and using analytics for the e-commerce channel.
This person will report on key metrics to the CEO on a regular basis. The successful candidate will have a mastery of e-commerce, demonstrated success delivering features, functionality and integrations that improve conversion rate and lifetime value, and work excellently across functions and with vendors.
Responsibility:
- Define, own and deliver the vision for uglydrinks.com with a customer-first approach focused on discovery, ease of use and consumer experience.
- Create and execute the strategic plan and manage operations to deliver revenue goals and customer growth.
- Inform and deliver features, functionality, services and design that drives performance indicators.
- Develop and maintain the e-commerce plan, performance goals, strategy, and budget.
- Establish framework for ongoing evaluation of e-commerce capabilities, with emphasis on improving user experience and driving conversion rates.
- Effectively leverage social media platforms, email marketing campaigns, SEO and SEM, company blog and site content, as well as digital advertising campaigns to increase new customers, site visits, conversions and reduce CPA.
- Lead cross-departmental e-commerce driven brand campaigns to generate online and offline sales while creating healthy awareness with an expanded percentage of the desired target demographic and engage existing customers more deeply.
- Develop web analytics metrics for measuring key performance indicators; analyse data and conduct testing to improve conversion on site as well as via social media, blog and email marketing.
- Develop and optimise SEO and SEM, as well as a keyword-rich content strategy.
- Effectively partner with wide-reaching account partnerships to drive trial and engagement.
- Innovate in the transactional buying cycle by improving what is working via e-mail marketing and web store development, while optimising and developing services, products and product mix.
- Effectively partner with colleagues and senior marketing leadership throughout the organisation to deliver forward looking e-commerce key trends.
- Deliver fact-based presentations to support sales objectives and achieve results internally.

What you need?
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing or a related field.
- Passion for e-commerce and direct-to-consumer.
- 5+ years Direct-to-consumer, marketing and online media experience (including knowledge of HTML, Social Media, AdWords, and SEO); e-commerce preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading growing e-commerce businesses with budget responsibility.
- Experience with performance marketing channels.
- Experience with web analytics technologies and SEM platforms.
- Experience working with digital and creative agencies, commissioning content for e-commerce distribution, website store management and design, and media planning, Google Analytics or other web analytics platform.
- Ability to work both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast passed environment.
- An understanding of the latest innovations and trends in e-commerce media relevant in the recruiting marketing space.
- Strong conceptual, strategic and analytical skills, including ability to quickly analyse data from disparate sources across multiple industries, to identify key insights and apply them to business.
- Take initiative to build rapport, establish e-commerce specific plans, and achieve / exceed sales goals.
- Ability to manage down, across and up — internally and externally.
- Ability to clearly define a problem and synthesise data to drive fact-based insights and develop clear, thoughtful and risk-taking activations.
- Growth mindset with a focus on continuous testing to optimize audience, acquisition channels, conversion funnel and pricing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications is required.
- Project management and creative thinking skills desired.
