People are drinking less soda than ever before. In its place, sparkling water provides all of the ice cold can refreshment of a carbonated soft drink, but with none of the sugars, sweeteners of artificial ingredients. Sales of sparkling water have grown by over 50% over the last 5 years and with the US soda market worth $39billion, this is just the beginning and sparkling water is the future. It’s time for Ugly and it’s time for #theuglytruth.

Now in over 4500 stores across the UK, the brand launched in the USA in May 2018 and is ready to shake things up and bring #theuglytruth about sugary soft drinks to US consumers. No FAKE NEWS. No ALTERNATIVE FACTS.

What are the Ugly products?

Ugly Drinks is a range of 100% natural fruit flavored sparkling waters with NO sugar, NO sweetener, NO calories and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING artificial. Just the way we like it.

Our first product, Ugly Flavored, consists of a range of sparkling waters in a variety of flavours. Ugly Flavored Sparkling Water is taking on the big dogs of the soda world and offering an alternative to traditionally sweetened carbonated beverages.

In October 2019, we launched a range of Energized Sparkling Waters. Positioned as an alternative to sugary energy drinks containing artificial ingredients, Ugly Energized contains no sugar, natural caffeine, no calories and absolutely nothing artificial. Because it’s time for Real Energy.

What is the role?

Ugly Drinks is seeking a full-time, Global Acquisition Manager.

This Acquisition Manager will be responsible for leading the growth strategy and bringing customers into the Ugly community online. The role will be responsible for acquiring customers, reducing acquisition costs, launching and managing new acquisition channels and delivering a great introduction to the Ugly brand online for new customers.

This person will report on key metrics to the Global DTC Manager & CEO on a regular basis. The successful candidate will have a mastery of e-commerce, demonstrated success delivering acquisition growth, reduction of CAC and clear ability to analyse and report on performance.

Responsibility:

  • Create and execute the strategic growth plan to deliver customer sign-up targets at agreed upon CAC for the US and the UK.
  • Launch and manage a variety of acquisition channels including social, PPC, affiliates, partnerships, package inserts and creatively brainstorming new and innovative acquisition streams.
  • Manage and work alongside agencies to help execute the total acquisition plan.
  • Clearly analyse web and media metrics and report against key performance indicators.
  • Take a test & learn approach to improve and understand each acquisition channel across offer, creative, audience, etc.
  • Manage the weekly, monthly and quarterly acquisition forecast, reporting process and present this to the senior team.
  • Inform features, functionality, services and design to the digital and physical product that drives performance.
  • Introduce customers to the Ugly brand online with a customer-first approach focused on discovery, ease of purchase and consumer experience.

What you need?

  • Experience of direct response performance marketing ideally with a DTC brand.
  • Passion for e-commerce and direct-to-consumer.
  • 4+ years DTC marketing.
  • Demonstrated success growing DTC businesses with budget responsibility.
  • Comfortable with data. Ideally experience with data from web analytics to media platforms. Ability to pull the insight out of the data.
  • Experience working with and getting the most of out of media agencies.
  • Ability to work both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast passed environment.
  • An understanding of the latest innovations and trends in DTC performance marketing.
  • Ability to manage down, across and up — internally and externally.
  • Growth mindset with a focus on continuous testing to optimise across channel, creative, offer and audience.
