Even if George Orwell had wanted to release it as “The Last Man in Europe”, It was released as “1984” because of the publisher’s concerns.

In accordance with 1984, There’s just one reason that explains society and our life purpose. It was named as ‘party’. The thing which makes 1984 as dystopia comes from destroyed invidualism. Party controls the history and future, party legislate every act like what people can think.

2+2=5, That catchword was being used by communist groups while Orwell was writing 1984, so 1984 seemed anti-socialist novel even if Orwell hadn’t want.

“… Arithmetic of an alternative plan: 2+2 plus the enthusiasm of the workers=5”. Stalin declared the plan a success at the beginning of 1933, noting the creation of several heavy industries…. ”

To sense the impact of ‘party’, the best way can be reading some quotes;

“If you want to keep a secret, you must also hide it from yourself.”

“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — for ever.”

Consequently, after you read that book, you’ll notice George Orwell’s concerns intended for the future. Although it seems like fantasy, It certainly reminds memorable acts. It deserves to be read with worthy of time…

The movie was pretty different from the book. I do not recommend watching before read the book.
