Design thinking is a process or method of thinking to empathize with human-centered problems and issues. Design thinking is also linked to product and service innovation recipes in business and social contexts. Simply put, design thinking is an approach or method of solving problems both cognitively, creatively and practically to answer human needs as users. Design thinking aims to solve problems effectively by understanding user needs and redefining the problems they experience.

The method used goes through five stages of design thinking namely empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and testing which can provide convenience for researchers in searching data, analyzing and identifying a problem, to validating startup business ideas.

1. Empathize
The first stage is empathizing, which is getting an empathic understanding of the problem that occurs and then it is solved.

2. Define
At this stage, all information obtained from the empathize stage is collected, analyzed, then synthesized to determine the core problem to be identified.

3. Ideate
The ideate stage is the stage of generating ideas. All ideas will be accommodated to solve the problems that have been defined at the define stage. After that, investigation and testing of ideas is carried out to find the best way to solve the problem or provide the necessary elements to avoid problems that could occur.

4. Prototypes
In this stage, the smallest version of the product with few features will be generated. This is done to investigate the solution to the problem generated in the previous stage.

5. Test
Testing or testing is carried out on products to the public or users. Then the results will be made changes and improvements to get rid of problem solutions and gain an in-depth understanding of the product from its users.

Design Thinking has a different focus from other innovative approaches. Other innovative approaches are technology-based and competitor-based. Meanwhile, Design Thinking includes a customer-centric innovation approach. So that the main focus of Design Thinking is to focus on identifying problems and solving problems with human-centered solutions. So that the resulting solution is a solution that is needed by humans.

How Design Thinking Works, in a simple way, this is an explanation of how Design Thinking works. Design Thinking combines the human point of view with what technology is feasible and the right business model too. When visualized, Design Thinking is in the middle of the shading between Desirability(What do people need?), Feasibility (What is technically possible in the future?), and Viability (What could be a sustainable business model?)

Advantages of Design Thinking
Following are the advantages of Design Thinking that are felt by every individual in an organization:
1. Allows you to think outside the box.
2. Makes you break the boundaries of your mind.
3. Hone your way of thinking critically and creatively.
Meanwhile, these are the advantages of Design Thinking from a business perspective:
1. Understand customer problems in depth
2. Reducing the risk of failure of the solution idea because it has been tested
