When technology development and community building are both growing organically, the real value of blockchain is then revealed. This is especially true with an open sourced public chain, investors, primary developers, technical geeks, miners (essential service providers) and eco-application developers are an indispensable part of the community. For Ultrain, our project team will actively participate in technology development and community events to maintain a strong bond with the community and connect the talents of different industry. While we try to break the traditional barriers of entry established by traditional enterprises, who consider them as too big to fail and forms monopolies that dominate each sector. Ultrain, together with all its potential partners are building d a large-scale sustainable blockchain economic ecosystem.

At the same time, we firmly believe that blockchain technology will mature and eventually establish innovative accomplishment by the talents of a younger generation. Therefore, Ultrain’s technical community is focused on colleges and universities communities, Ultrain enters the campus to interact and communicate with the younger generation, invite more creative younger people to work with us and tries to promote the development of blockchain technology, and achieve more technological breakthroughs, and aim to incubate a number of excellent and valuable blockchain application projects.

On the afternoon of November 16, Ultrain and Zhejiang University Blockchain Association held a small technology sharing event at Zhejiang University’s Yuquan Campus. During this event, Ultrain co-founder & CTO Li Ning and three other senior technical specialists arrived. During the event, Li presented his insights on various aspects of the blockchain and conducted face-to-face communication with the participants and insightful discussion.

This is a particularly important step as Ultrain is determined to build a professional technical community with perceptive members. We are happy to see so many elite students who have shown great interest in the emerging technology of blockchain and how they were eager to share their knowledge of the field.

Ultrain co-founder & CTO Li Ning first gave a speech entitled “The Value and Real World Establishment of Blockchain” at the event. He first stated that the application of cryptography gave birth to blockchain itself, and cited many famous historians, such as David Chaum, who invented Ecash back in 1989, and Nick Szabo, who proposed smart contracts in 1994, 2008. Satoshi Nakamoto of the Bitcoin protocol, Ben Lynn, who invented the BLS signature algorithm, and Silvio Micali, who created the Algorand consensus algorithm, gave a brief introduction to the PoW workload proof mechanism, the digest function, and the Merkle tree.

Later, Li Ning pointed out several significant milestones that the blockchain began to emerge. He said that blockchain technology officially entered the “geek” community during 2010. It all started with a Florida programmer who bought a $25 pizza for 10,000 bitcoins on May 21, 2010. By the end of 2010, the total value of Bitcoin’s economy has exceeded one million US dollars. In 2011, Bitcoin began to become famous. And blockchain technology officially entered the mainstream media starting from 2016. During early 2016, Ethereum price began to skyrocket, attracting a large number of enthusiasts and developer to join the world of Ethereum. Li Ning said that despite a series of criminal compliance incidents, much can be learned from Ethereum which function as a fundamental level platform for smart contract + blockchain development. The technology underneath can be significantly used in multiple aspects.

For many years, there have been many misunderstandings about the blockchain technology. In many people’s minds, the blockchain is omnipotent. However, Li Ning said that the blockchain couldn’t solve the copyright problem, and the core value of it is not to achieve “de-intermediation.” The blockchain and the Internet of Things are only in the initial stage to get things uploaded on the chain; the journal ahead remains to be unsolved at the moment, such as finding a way to solve the issue of significant data sharing. To achieve traceability, there is still limitation remain with the achievement of traceability.

In Li Ning’s view, one real value for the blockchain is to provide digitized assets. Blockchain’s core features such as transparency, non-tamperable and everything can be “signed,” as well as combining with smart contract standards ERC20, ERC721, ERC1400, ERC1404, can solve a series of a problem for a digitized asset such as digitized asset identification, digitized asset circulation, security of digitized asset. The data assets are permanent. He also said that Ultrain has now cooperated with a domestic company to develop smart lock projects, use blockchain technology to transform physical assets into digital assets, and broadcast related videos for community members to further understand:

Also, Li Ning also said that blockchain technology could also shine in the gaming industry. In blockchain game, all the game assets not only belong to the players themselves but also unique and more valuable from the perspective of scarcity. Ultrain has partnered with HyperDragons from Mixmaval and the Electric Soul Lab to develop a unique blockchain game.

At the end of the speech, Li Ning said that whether it was the hackathon in San Francisco or technology sharing in Seoul, South Korea, we have seen many developers’ keen attention towards blockchain technology and the potential of our Ultrain community. And now, by making our initial step into the college community, starting with the campus of Zhejiang University indicates our determination to build a technical community and to work closely with elite students in colleges and universities.

Then, Ultrain’s senior technical experts Fan Liangqin and Wang Bingying also shared their thoughts with the students. Wang Bingying introduced Ultrain’s full-stack DApp development details. He separately explained the relationship between DApp and smart contracts, indicating that the fundamental infrastructure of DApp are made up by the front-end, smart contract, and the actual blockchain, which means that smart contracts are part of DApp. The difference between a DApp and a smart contract is that DApp usually has a user interface. After that, Wang Bingying and Fan Liangqin have introduced from a technical point of view of how to build a full-stack DApp based on Ultrain, and the primary process of writing smart contracts, the composition of contracts, and the components available for contracts.

In this event, the audience listened to the presentation carefully and said that this is a short and insightful event, full of cutting-edge knowledge that needed to learn about the industry. After the speeches of several keynote speakers, the audience raised many questions about the blockchain technology and Ultrain’s related content. The main speakers answered them separately. The following are some selected questions in the Q&A session for community members to refer to:

Q & A

Question 1: Does Ultrain’s underlying code plan to be open source?

Answer: Every open blockchain public chain project must be open source, as is Ultrain. Ultrain has now opened some of the underlying code on Github, including the smart contract development framework, and plans to unlock all the code in April next year. Ultrain Github website: https://github.com/ultrain-os.

Question 2: What is the current progress and future planning of the Ultrain project, and how is the community building?

Answer: Ultrain has hosted the Supernova launch conference in San Francisco back on October 8th this year. It has released a public test network, a network of access systems, and a customized zero-knowledge proof, true random number generator, and anti-quantum wallet. These are the three core middlewares on the chain and some additional multiple chain DApps. As for future planning, Ultrain plans to complete the mainnet operation in April next year. Ultrain has established 16 international community sites and powerful online communities around the world, and has held many offline meetings to create a global community with localized knowledge, incorporates both online and offline audiences,

Question 3: How do you see the future of latest blockchain card games in the industry?

Answer: The blockchain card games have actually been launched quite frequently, but in fact, the focus of blockchain games is still based on financial attributes, not entertainment. So far, there is still no blockchain game that can achieve better gaming experience than the traditional centralized servers. How to maintain the blockchain characteristics, while giving players a great experience, this is an ambitious goal that all blockchain game remains to achieve.

Question 4: What advantages does Ultrain have over other domestic public chains such as Nervos and Algorand?

Answer: Although the management team of Nervos is within the country, many technical team members are overseas. Thus, strictly speaking, it is not a complete domestic public chain project. Algorand is a very academic project, the theory is perfect, but the more perfect the method, the harder it is for the project landing in the real world and implementation in actual commercial use. Ultrain, as an Alibaba based tech team, has a wealth of engineering experience while having a cutting-edge innovation theory, which the team believes they can achieve and create a complete business ecosystem.

Question 5: How will Ultrain plan to work with universities in the technical community?

Answer: Cooperation with significant universities will be an essential step for Ultrain. Ultrain will cooperate with the blockchain associations of major universities, and conduct such activities through offline communication, for example, hackathon and other technical communities in many universities. Ultrain will potentially provide a degree of support to student association organization of different universities. At the same time, Ultrain truly understands the target community of developers in the university, especially the blockchain developers. Therefore Ultrain will also provide a series of specific technical training to train more blockchain talents.

We look forward to having More young blood joining us and joining this fast-growing emerging industry.
