When it comes to the Cricket World Cup, Australia is one of the teams to look forward to. The Kangaroos have completely dominated this tournament; they have won five titles and ended up as runners-up twice. The most important reason behind their triumph in this tournament is their team selection. This year’s World Cup is approaching, and teams have to make a choice about who they will trust in the tournament. Earlier this week, Australia announced their 18-member World Cup squad.

Surprise Selections

Most of the selections were as expected, but some of the decisions left cricket fanatics stunned. The first was the exclusion of Marnus Labuschange. Marnus is an integral part of the Australian batting line-up in the Test team. Although he is yet to prove his skills in limited overs, His calm stance and carrying his innings could have been helpful in one day. The surprise inclusions were uncapped leg spinner Tanveer Sangha and all rounder Aaron Hardie, who has little experience. How this gamble will play out, we will find out in Australia’s series against South Africa, which will be played in order to prepare for the World Cup.

The Batting Line

Australia, in this world cup, will have a formidable batting line-up. To start with, let’s talk about Cameron Green. He is an emerging talent, and he proved his talent in Australia’s series against India in the first quarter of this year. As the World Cup is also in India, he was an obvious choice. He will be joined by Steve Smith, David Warner, and Travis Head, and wicket keeper batters Alex Carey and Josh Inglis will be taking responsibility for Australia’s batting in the World Cup.

All Rounders

Team Australia’s all-rounders will be Glen Maxwell, Mitchel Marsh, Marcus Stonis, and newcomer Aron Hardie, who will be crucial for the Men in yellow.

Newcomer Aaron Hardie will be crucial for the Men in Yellow.

Bowling Attack

As the saying goes, batters win you bowlers win you tournaments, so let’s find out: is Australia’s bowling attack capable of winning the World Cup? The pace attack will be led by skipper Pat Cummins, and to make matters worse for opponents, he will be joined by Josh Hazelwood and world cup specialist Mitchel Stark. Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellies will also be part of Australia’s pace Attack. Spinners have a major role when Adam Zampa and Aston Agar are in charge, and Tanveer Sangha is the latest addition to Australia’s spin arsenal.

Pat Cummin’s Injury

The major issue for Australia is Pat Cummis’s injury. The 30-year-old suffered a fracture on his left wrist during the ashes. So far, he is on six weeks of rehabilitation. Australian management is hopeful that he will be able to return to the field prior to the World Cup.

Feed back

Australia’s squad for the World Cup received mixed opinions; some people appreciated it for being a balanced squad of young talent and veteran cricketers. On the other hand, the decision to leave Marnus Labuschange and Usman Khwaja was criticised.
