HW Activity Part A: Sharing the 6 guidelines with your classmate
I shared the first six tips/guidelines with my classmate.
1. Find your passion and align it with your career
2. Decisions are very unique to each person, what’s right for one isn’t right for the other
3. Own your decisions: Don’t let other people make decisions for you and don’t blame anyone else
4. Do an internship before pursuing a higher degree to confirm if you like that field/industry
5. Don’t do PhD if you want to be an entrepreneur or work in corporate sector
6. Spend at least one year in your first job
It was more of a one way talk. He was not prepared for that talk despite of my prior notice. We had little arguments. Like about making your own decisions. I talked to him about his decision of quitting Electrical Engineering at LUMS and joining UET. I said him that it was totally wrong decision and no one from his family was happy of him leaving LUMS. It was totally his decision to leave the NOP program in LUMS. I said him you must have listened to your 10 elder siblings in this matter. They might have suggested you something better. He took that decision and now he has to prove that he was right. This is the major concern for him. Apart from this we agreed to almost all the tips mentioned above. The thing he liked was ‘decision are unique’ , what’s good for me might not be good for him also.
In short it was a great learning experience. And we must ask for advice from our elders/siblings in crucial matters. Because my classmate did not do that. I did not take a selfie with him but we took a photo.
