Anambra Election: Uwazurike’s MASSOB and the problems of fallen prophets
It is often advised that when reading the bible, one needs to apply wisdom to it. And it is by applying wisdom one will understand what happened to Ralph Uwazurike of MASSOB, he who has become the disgruntled Saul of the Biafra struggle. What Nnamdi Kanu is today is what Uwazurike would have been and much more. It was he who first regained the Biafra vision years after the Igbo had once again became disillusioned in the Nigerian enclave. Uwazurike’s agitation started in the ruthless Obasanjo era, and proceeded to Yar’adua’s. He was imprisoned, castigated, and his followers, mostly the poorest of the masses, were persecuted and massacred…..then Uwazurike had a taste of the Igbo elite, who are no different from all the elite of the world, who care nothing but maintenance of their elite privilege, and would sell anything, anybody, even their blood brothers to achieve same. They abandoned Uwazurike….and he suffered alone. Then one day, the collective privilege of the Igbo and South South elite was threatened when they faced the prospect of Jonathan losing the Presidential election. They were running from pillar to post. They were looking for anyone they could use to rig the heart of the common disillusioned people. That was when they remembered Uwazurike. A man downcast, beaten, traumatized. A prophet who had ceased to hear from his caller. They worked on him; they used elite razzmatazz; they promised him things they would never do. The same Jonathan (and PDP) who approved his military to shoot MASSOB members conducting peaceful protests, who kidnapped them in the night, shot and threw them into Ezu river, was now promising to bring MASSOB inside, and make Uwazurike a senator of the republic of Nigeria, and then main-stream his Biafra agitation. And they shared the PDP money with him. That was the trap, and once Uwazurike fell into that, it was the end. He came out of it with burnt reputation. He got nothing: no one of the so-called MASSOB sympathizers won any election, not even councilor. But what else happened? With the election over, those who used him dumped him again, and even began to blackmail him. They exposed all the dirty deals they involved with him. And with that, 99% of his followers lost faith in him. That was the story of the sudden decline of MASSOB and sudden rise of IPOB, the sudden decline of Uwazurike and sudden rise of Nnamdi Kanu. But like Saul the rejected king of Israel, Uwazurike became disgruntled, he could not accept that he betrayed the cause for which he was chosen, he could not grasp the reality that his mantle has been taken away and given to another, who used to be his servant, his follower. Today, he is actively working with groups and interests against the Biafra interest, along with small prophets that fell along with him. The so-called MASSOB — which exists now more like letter-head organization — is now having meetings with governor Obiano and other politicians in Anambra who are looking for what to eat, all in the bid to cajole poor Anambra people to vote in November 18, 2017 state election. When MASSOB says their non-existing members should obtain voters card ‘because they need it to vote’ in the referendum as reported recently in the Vanguard (Nigeria) newspaper, you begin to wonder; was it the Nigerian government that told them so? Or was it written in the constitution of the federal republic that INEC voters card qualifies one vote in a not-yet-scheduled and not-yet-agreed-upon referendum. So, he who reads let him him understand. The worst thing anyone can do is to align himself with an old prophet, with an anointed man whom God has rejected his anointing. If this Biafra exodus will happen, it must have just one leader. One Moses. And anyone with best intentions must listen to him. Today, Kanu represents the most credible voice for Biafra agitation in Nigeria. Anyone telling you about election and Biafra-Nigeria sympathizers are part of the followers of the men-who-lost-anointing. They are part of the scavengers strategy-zing how to continue eating the Federal allocation coming to Anambra state. That is the sole purpose of asking for your vote. When they win, they will yet forget you, nothing will change; they will stop talking about Biafra, they will not get you even ‘restructuring’ or resource control. So, if you are reading me, I tell you to follow anybody, but not a disgruntled fellow, a prophet or king who lost anointing.
