Renji Morita, CEO of Unchorlight Kenya Limited, was invited to SHOWCASE AFRICA 2023 held in Tokyo.

• On Apr 2023, a Japanese Venture Capital UNCOVERED FUND held its first roadshow “SHOWCASE AFRICA 2023” in Tokyo, attended by 10 African startups and 400 Japanese companies and investors.
• Renji Morita, CEO of Unchorlight Kenya Limited, was invited to the event as a panellist. He joined a session called “Open Innovation” as CEO of a Japanese representative company initiating the actual process of establishing and growing a business to enter an African market with the other two participants*.
• The panel delved into an insightful discussion centred around the value of the business for the auto industry and also the boda boda riders as customers. Morita emphasised how the company supported moving their lives forward by leveraging the 17-months payment term with better use of technology and communication. Notably, the panellists recognized that this model represents a paradigm shift in customer engagement within the auto industry, particularly within emerging markets. The consensus was clear — the realisation of this transformative vision requires collaborative efforts from multiple entities rather than the endeavours of a solitary enterprise.
