Welcome to the New iPhone 11

Following numerous leaks and much anticipation, the iPhone 11 is officially here, succeeding the iPhone 10R. At a first glance, one can see that it’s going to feel very familiar with just a few key upgrades.

Design & Display

Contrary to hopes for a drastically different design, it turns out it’s almost the exact as the iPhone 10R — rounded corners, similar button placement, the familiar mute switch, same lightning port, and no change in speaker setup either. Still sporting a 6.1 inch liquid retina display with roughly a 720p resolution, the iPhone 11 retains an LCD screen.

However, there is a slight change on the back where the Apple logo has been moved to the exact centre of the phone. To maintain the sleek design, iPhone 11 no longer carries the iPhone text, just the logo.

The Camera — The Highlight of the iPhone 11

The main new feature, which also seems to be the primary focus of the iPhone 11, is its camera. It boasts dual 12-megapixel cameras — one standard and another ultra-wide. The camera bump is unique and has garnered divided opinions. It features a glossy back but a frosted matte glass camera square housing the lenses.

The updated camera app of the iPhone 11 offers some tweaks, with a preview of an extra wide shot that shows what’s not currently in your shot. The iOS enthusiasts would look forward to using this with the iPhone 11 is capable of 4K 60fps video, HDR, and intense colour matching.

Not Letting the Front Camera Lag Behind

Even the selfie nerds get a reason to celebrate with a upgraded 12-megapixel front camera that’s a bit wider. An enhanced touch is the support for slow-motion video by the front-facing camera.

So, all those in quest of newer features in iPhones, the wait is over. It’s time to explore the new iPhone 11!

Apple’s New Kid on the Block: iPhone 11

As modern technology continues to evolve, the innovative minds at Apple have given us a new addition to their ever-growing line up of smartphones — the iPhone 11. Even though they have followed the somewhat unusual naming convention by dubbing this new device ‘Slow Fees’, this iPhone has a lot to offer.

iPhone 11’s New Night Mode: A Game Changer?

One of the most-awaited features of this new phone is the night mode. This has been a topic of interest ever since Google’s Pixel Night Sight gave us an impressive representation of what it can do, leaving iPhone users hoping for something similar or even better. Huawei and other brands have already made great strides in this area, making us even more excited to see what Apple has in store for us.

Unlike the night mode in other smartphones, the iPhone 11’s night mode is nowhere to be seen in the default mode selection. This feature automatically activates, but only when it is dark enough, cleverly determined by the device. You can also prompt it through trickery by covering the lens, causing the night mode indicator to pop up. However, this mode can’t be activated any other way. This innovative adaptation is something I’m keen to study further for an in-depth review.

Packing Inside: Specifications

Powered by a brand new A13 Bionic Chip, Apple confidently claims it to be the most potent CPU and GPU currently in any phone. Considering Apple has been consistently producing excellent silicon chips for their phones for years, the tech community and its users are optimistic about the device’s performance.

The battery life is admittedly impressive, touted to last an hour longer than that of the iPhone XR. The phone also houses a specialised U1 chip for relative spatial positioning with other U1 enabled devices. This clever piece of tech is highlighted by a fun feature that enables two iPhone 11s to AirDrop files directly merely by pointing the devices at each other, an exciting feature that is sure to interest many.

Little Things Making Big Differences

Face ID is now reportedly 30% faster, and supposedly works at greater angles, bringing a sigh of relief to those who struggle to unlock their iPhones on a flat surface. Portrait Mode, too, has become more versatile, now available to use on pets and objects, and not just human faces, which was the case in iPhone XR.

The iPhone 11, a subtly updated device, with an even lower price tag than its predecessor, the iPhone XR, is likely to make it Apple’s most popular phone this year. The six new colour options just adds to the appeal, ensuring diverse options for diverse consumers.

Personally, I had been hoping for an upgrade in resolution for the iPhone 11 as the lower resolution found in the 10r was a significant disappointment for me, and probably for most users as well. However, Apple has surprised us all by significantly dropping the price to $699, a rare move for Apple when introducing a new product.

Despite this, like many, I’ll reserve my judgements for after I’ve extensively tested the iPhone 11- taking sample photos and videos, testing the battery life, and everyday use among other things- before deciding whether or not it’s worth the investment.

For those intrigued by the iPhone 11, feel free to disseminate this information amongst your network. For those of you eager for a more comprehensive take on Apple’s latest products, stay tuned for my imminent iPhone 11 Pro review video and an accompanying blog post.

In addition to the iPhones, Apple also unveiled the Apple Watch Series 5. It’s a minor update, to say the least, but the standout feature is the always-on display while maintaining the same battery life, which is unquestionably a nice touch.

Along with these, Apple gave us an overview of the upgraded 10.2-inch baseline iPad. The device offers pencil support, smart connector pins and all at an impressive bargain price. For a detailed breakdown of these latest offerings from Apple, I’ll be featuring them in a new episode of the Waveform Podcast, stay tuned for that too.

So, make sure you’re subscribed to get the latest review videos as they come out, if you haven’t done so already. That covers the key updates about the iPhone 11. Thank you for stopping by and I’ll catch you guys in the next update. Peace.
