Hey everyone! Welcome to the unboxing and first impressions of the much-awaited iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, all debuting in exciting new green hues. I’ve been putting these phones through their paces for a couple of days now, and although not quite long enough to serve a comprehensive review, it’s sufficient to give you an initial sneak peek of these striking new devices.

This year’s unboxing promises a different experience, starting with the return of individually coloured boxes. The iPhone 11 arrives in a pristine white box, while the 11 Pros make a strong impression in their matte black packaging. This refreshing trend was last seen back with iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. However, the common link between these new boxes remains the vibrantly coloured logos and text that truly make them stand out.

Inside every box, you’ll find the phone nestled at the top, albeit with the peel-off plastic protection only on the front, not extended to the back. An interesting distinction could arise due to the matte finish on some phones, yet even the glossy iPhone 11 sports plastic on its front alone. Of course, a classic addition to the box is the quintessential packet containing two standard white Apple stickers.

Further in the package, you’ll discover the Lightning earphones. While not exactly groundbreaking, they are a solid inclusion, considering no Air Pods are included. What truly sets the packaging of these new iPhones apart is the introduction of an 18-watt USB Type-C fast charging brick, accompanied by a USB Type-C to Lightning cable. This new charging solution, while not inclusive of full USB Type-C compatibility, is a noteworthy addition.

Disappointingly, the non-Pro iPhone 11 still prefers the dated 5-watt USB A to Lightning charger, below expectation for a $700 phone. But enough about boxes and accessories. Let’s speak about the star of the show, the Midnight Green iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and the glossy iPhone 11.

The green is a fresh variation for these new phones. Upon close examination, it’s clear that while the green is universally adored, it’s subtly different between each model. The Midnight Green of the iPhone 11 Pro possesses a certain muted quality. When compared to a military green, it leans closer to grey than green, offering a unique ‘off-grey’ appearance.

While I personally lean towards the Space Grey, it’s worth noting that this new green brings a pleasant change to the iPhone range. For those still contemplating which colour to opt for, this examination should provide some valuable insights. Perhaps in the future, we might see light blue or glossy red iPhones reserved for six-month color refresh cycles.

Honestly, the closest match I found for the new iPhone colour was in my own studio, on an ottoman footrest. In a surprising twist, it turned out to be the exact same colour as the iPhone, right down to a tee. So, there you have it — a fascinatingly unexpected colour match! But, moving on to the iPhone 11, this much more familiar phone also brings with it a promise of variety.

Six brand new colours are cropping up for this version of the iPhone, including a unique shade that sits somewhere between a seafoam green and a minty green. On closer inspection, Apple simply calls it ‘Green’. An elementary name, undoubtedly, but it does lend itself well to comparison with other aqua-hued items around.

The phone colour, in conjunction with the new purple and yellow variations, seems to veer toward pastelli, reminiscent of this corner in a colour chart. An astute lot have also noticed the similarity between the aqua-green Apple logo colour on the badges at the event, and the colour of this phone — although the badge does appear a little darker.

A darker iPhone variant has been a point of interest for many users though, especially because it closely mirrors the aqua green of Apple’s vintage logo and the classic iMac’s back colour with clear plastic.

Over the years, many a greenish phone has graced the market, like the rare Nexbit Robin or the green half of the bikini case on Galaxy S8 Plus. Yet, intriguingly, each shade of aqua green seems to remain unique.

Turns out, the iPhone 11 box is the closest match to the actual phone colour. Anybody who happens upon the box at the store or elsewhere gets a taste of the exact shade. While blue-green colourteases have been on a rise in phone designs, this detail is truly a testament to Apple’s authenticity.

That wraps up this quick overview! Do look forward to a comprehensive review of the iPhone 11 coming soon. The comments section is always open for your questions and feedback. Whether you have specific queries or wish to know more about features like battery life or the camera app, don’t hesitate to drop a comment below. I’ll make sure to incorporate those areas in the upcoming review. Until then, thanks for reading and see you in the next one. Peace!
