Procrastination: A business man’s worst enemy
As this is the first ever blog post that I will be making I thought that this title was very fitting to the situation. As I sit here typing away at my computer in the back of my mind I know that I should be studying, but we all know that won’t happen until this is finished so here we go.
Firstly I would like do let you all know why I have started this blog page, what it all means for me and hopefully many of you who will be reading. The Under 25 Club (as I have dubbed it) is a space for young entrepreneurs and students to read about and hopefully learn from many of the mistakes I am making as a young student/entrepreneur myself.
As I first write this I am 20 years of age and am currently in my 2nd year of a marketing / advertising degree at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. I also am the proudly stressed out director / owner / manager / every other position of my 3 online businesses. I started my first online venture 2 years ago at the age of 18 which has both been successful and a failure in some ways. But enough about me.
My goal here is to share my knowledge with people out there just like me who are under 25, studying, looking to start or have already started their own business. In the past 2 years that I have been running these businesses I have learnt a lot about what not to do, and a little bit about what to do in order to succeed in balancing university studies, work and still retaining a social life. Many people believe that it can’t be done because of a lack of knowledge, education or time to do it all in. If you have been told this your whole life or are guilty of thinking it yourself, get ready to have your mind changed. Especially if you are the type of person that truly believes they can be successful. I believe it was Henry Ford who said “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you are right”.
I hope that I will be able to bring some insight into what you are trying to achieve and for some I may be able to make the path clearer, but please know that I am still learning everyday. Each morning I am faced with a new or regular challenge and as I overcome it or make a mistake in doing so, I will let all of you know.
So here I was planning on writing a post about procrastination and I have ended up procrastinating and giving you a quick intro into what I will be doing here. I think that in itself is a perfect example of how easy it is to get sidetracked. I’m sure more than a few of you can relate. I promise the content will be much more intriguing next time round ☺
Please let me know if you are at all interested in me continuing down this path. Also if you are having any issues in your business and/or study life, let me know with a comment, I can help share my views on another post or can quickly give you some tips over Facebook and Twitter.
I really want to build a community of young people just like me and if you are interested in sharing your views and experiences please contact me. I would love to get some more writers on board.
