Let’s say I post an add on Craigslist or Kijiji to sell my couch, does that render me a member of their sales force? Am I entitled to employee compensations because they have provided a platform for casual earning? Ebay provides the seller with virtual store options and takes a transaction fee from each sale. Does that make them an employer or a franchiser?

I understand that Uber and the like are more involved with trying to control the game, but what about a model where there weren’t any? If the site is merely designed to connect people thematically, would this remove any recourse for counter-action? It seems to me if someone joins any of these apps with the intention of earning part-time, commission based income, they are in fact, self-employed.
