How a TV Sitcom Triggered the Downfall of Western Civilization
David Hopkins

When we use the caricatures from the minds of television writers as examples of real life persona, we run the risk of self ridicule. Every human should possess aspects of all of these characters. What’s wrong with being a little nerdy, a tad sarcastic, slightly ditsy, and in some cases, just plain dumb or self absorbed? Don’t we owe it to ourselves to be as open minded as we can with all our experiences?

Perhaps I’m giving writers too much intellectual credit here, but may they have in fact created these TV people as representations of parts of each one’s self.

Of course, I could also be just full of shit. In that case, I’ll just go watch some ‘Big Bang Theory’. They’re real people, aren’t they?
