Suzanne’s story will break your heart. Her life was ripped apart when Boko Haram attacked her village and she fled screaming into the forest. She ran in groups with other children but became tired and collapsed under a tree. She can’t find her parents and doesn’t know how to get back to her old life, or if it even exists.

Thanks to the generosity and kindness of a lovely old woman, Suzanne knows some of the stability and joys of normal childhood, a safe home and a school. But she’s still haunted by all that she’s been through.

UNICEF is working to help children like Suzanne by offering psychosocial support and programs to help reunite families.
