THE TRAILS
Sakadang trail
4.1 km — around 120 minutes one way
One of the most famous trail, Shakadang Trail is an easy trail of 4 km that follows the crystal clear Shakadang River. The perfect cliffside hike to observe the unusual rock formations and wildlife beside in the river valley.
Swallow Grotto (Yanzikou) Trail
1.37 km — 20 minutes one way
Swallow’s Grove, named after the many swallows that forge among the rocks, runs along the road and passes through multiple tunnels. All along the trail, it’s possible to admire the beautiful vertical falls down to the river, a classic landscape of the Taroko Gorge.
The Baiyang Waterfall Trail
2.2 km — around 60 minutes one way
After passing several tunnels, you will take a nice leisurely hike reaching the suspension bridge allowing you to see the wonderful Baiyang Waterfall. At the end of the Baiyang Waterfall Trail, enter into the Water Curtain Cave : a unique scene awaits you, created by spring water falling from the tunnel roof.
Changchen Shrine Trail — Eternal Spring Shrine
Built to commemorate the workers who died during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway, the Eternal Spring Shrine is one of the most famous scenic spots in Taroko National Park. The waterfall below the front of the shrine gives a surreal look to the Changchun Temple, recessed into the mountain.
