Destiny Arms Day — Week 6
I’m back, finally, with another Arms Day run-down. I missed last week due to family obligations, but all that is caught up and I am looking forward to covering a few different topics in the coming days. If I can pull myself away from Destiny long enough to get anything done. But let’s get too it!
This week, we have a slue of new weapons to explore and only one repeat weapon. That repeat weapon is the Suros DIS-43, which has become a favorite among scout rifle users. Our new weapons consist of a Hakke auto rifle, pulse rifle and hand cannon, as well as a Omolon hand cannon. It’s Hakke week at the Gunsmith and hoping for an interesting experience.
Hakke Arminius-D
This is the “bullet hose” variant of auto rifles, given its high rate of fire and extremely low impact. It is of the same archetype as the Necrochasm or Payback SOS. Historically, not a very good archetype at all.
- Rate of Fire — 100 / 100
- Impact — 2 / 3
- Range — 13 / 41
- Stability — 42 / 78
- Reload — 62 / 82
- Magazine — 40 / 48
- Aim assistance — 80 / 85
- Equip Speed — 60 / 85
- Light — 33 / 33
- Recoil direction — 50 / 50
- Zoom — 15 / 22
This weapon archetype is good for — well, I really don’t know. It is very situational, at best. Like Crucible challenges or testing your skill during a Daily Herioc mission. I will save a lot of time here and call PASS on this one. If you want to play with it, try to go for perks that max the stability (78). That way, you can at least maximize damage output with consistent head shots. Other than that, move on.
Suros DIS-43
This weapon was sold in Week 2 of Arms Day and if you like Scouts, you should pick this one up. This is a medium rate of rife, medium impact scout rifle and possibly the most popular archetype for this weapon class. Many scouts currently fit into this category, including the most sought after and revered weapons in the game. Guns like Vision of Confluence(Vault of Glass), Fang of Ir Yût(Crotas End), The Saterienne Rapier(Dark Below), Another NitC(Dark Below), Hygiea Noblesse(HoW) and NA3D1 Salvation State(HoW). Currently, Dead Orbit’s has an Omolon scout in this class called Hung Jury SR4 that I have my eye on. Either way, let’s look at the stats of the DIS-43.
- Rate of Fire — 37
- Impact - 48
- Range - 77 53/100
- Stability - 48 15/99
- Reload - 45 30/80
- Aim Assist - 61 61/66
- Equip Speed - 39 34/89
- Recoil Direction - 80
- Zoom - 20 20/25
- Mag size - 19 13/23
This is my absolute favorite class of weapon to use in the game. I have done more to hurt my Crucible K/D, by running scouts in this class, for a really long time. Had I just went to a hand cannon and shotgun, I would probably have a 2.0 K/D by now. But, I just love the feel of scouts and they are just not the best for all the CQB maps that cluster Destiny’s PvP meta. Today… I run a Mida, so… topic for another day! Down to business at hand!
Before patch 2.0, range did not matter. Since so many PvP maps are so small, you could land head shot kills from halfway across the map with no problem. Now, with the new range and damage fall off mechanics in place, range is a thing. And we are still learning how it works and how to measure it. For the sake of simplicity, think of the 100 range stat as causing maximum damage/impact from really freaking far and 0 being only causing max damage/impact in your face. Even though range is important now, with all weapons in the game, I still would not place range over stability - unless the weapon has a pretty high base stability to start with. The DIS-43 could use some love in the stability department were as it’s base range is pretty good. You should probably watch for not giving up too much range for stability, in choosing your perks. But, in the right hands, this could make for a very flexible weapon. The reload on this weapon is pretty low, at 45, so arming yourself with some Gauntlets that increase reload speed with scouts will lend itself very well to your game play.
Hakke Judith-D
The Hakke Judith-D is a very slow rate of fire, extremely high impact hand cannon. It is in the same archetype as the Iron Banners Timur’s Lash and Ill Will(House of Wolves). There is not a lot to say about this archetype of hand cannon, hits like a truck and fires like a tank. This weapon type has pretty much a single play list that it shines. 3v3’s. But, that’s just my opinion. Let’s look at the stats and see what’s working with this thing.
- Rate of Fire — 15
- Impact — 94 94/95
- Range — 41 29/62
- Stability — 17 2/37
- Reload — 26 19/63
- Magazine — 7 6/7
- Aim Assistance — 60 60/65
- Equip Speed — 25 20/40
- Recoil Direction — 90
- Zoom — 15
Even though this weapon carries a ton of impact, it’s trade off is an extremely show rate of fire. Sure, you can two or three shot anyone in any Crucible match. And that sounds very strong on the surface. But the slow rate of fire, low bullet count and slow reload pretty much forces this gun to only be useful in 3v3 Crucible playlists. In that environment, this archetype really shines. Going up against more than one or two players, at a time, with this weapon will leave you feeling like you are drowning in syrup. 6’s or even Rumble, means that you will have to deal with multiple targets most of the time and this weapon is just not designed for that. Yes, highly skilled Joe’s will be able to mop the floor with this archetype, but not an average Joe. Sorry.
Omolon Uffern HC4
The Omolon Uffern HC4 is of the most beloved archetype hand cannon. Medium/Slow rate of fire, medium impact. This archetype is also the populated and in good company with weapons such as Byronic Hero, Imago Loop, Eyasluna, Red Hand IX, Fatebringer and Jewel of Osiris.
- Rate of Fire — 22
- Impact — 87
- Range — 24 12/48
- Stability — 70 50/100
- Reload — 43 29/70
- Magazine — 7 5/9
- Aim Assistance — 50 50/55
- Equip Speed — 65 65/110
- Recoil Direction — 90
- Zoom — 15
This weapon can be just about anything, depending on the roll you choose. Or that you are offered. Either way, it doesn’t matter. Just pick this weapon up. Like I said before, this archetype hand cannon is so well rounded, it makes a sphere seem oddly shaped. Yes, the magazine count is low. Thanks Bungie! If this thing had a base mag count of say, 10 or 12… it would be a beast, given the high base stability and decent reload speed.
Hakke Lyudmila-D
The Lyudmila-D is a slow firing, high impact pulse rifle. It is of the same archetype as some famous head spliters, such as The Messenger, Three Little Words and Spare Change.25. This archetype pulse is a great mid-range weapon to use in the Crucible. It can two shot a Guardian, within range, no matter what.
- Rate of fire — 59
- Impact — 30
- Range — 63 51/75
- Stability — 54 40/82
- Reload — 51 37/79
- Magazine — 33
- Aim assistance — 30 30/35
- Equip Speed — 25 20/75
- Recoil direction — 70
- Zoom — 17 17/24
What sets this weapon apart from it’s formidable predecessors? Not a whole lot. For a lot of people that love this archetype pulse rifle, that is a good thing. The closest match to this monster is The Messenger. It has the same range and stability as Sparechange.25. It has a slower base reload than any of the others and that might be the only thing that it has going to against it. But, nothing that a good pair of gloves can’t fix. Although this may not be a PvE master, it will reck — in the right hands of a faithful Crucible player.
