How To Tell If a Canadian Job Letter is Fake or Real

--

Getting a job offer from Canada is a dream for many from all over the world. Undoubtedly Canada is one of the best countries to immigrate to and what can be better than having a valid job offer to give a strong head start to the immigration process and guts, of course!

But the market of the whole world is swarming with fraudsters who never miss an opportunity to rob people off of their funds and hopes.

So, if you are applying for jobs in the Canadian or any other country’s job portal, you should know that at least 20–30% might be scams waiting for you to fall into the traps.

If you find anything suspicious or suddenly get a lavishing job offer out of the blue, consult an Immigration Consultancy Service. They can help you in identifying the scam and later land on a real job offer with a visa straight to the maple leaf country.

Here are some steps to follow to identify if the job offer that you are holding from your Canadian employer is real or fake.

Strange recruiter email address

You might have received job offer emails from strange email addresses in the initial days of your job hunt. You can list this in the points to differentiate between a fake email and a real one.

A genuine job offer letter will never be sent from a personal email address, for example, example@gmail.com or any other email other than the HR or recruitment team of the company.

Some scammers tend to steal email templates from other companies and use them to fool unsuspecting job applicants. At first glance, it will look like a legitimate email but when you look closely you may find slight differences like including a hyphen in the name or different font for certain letters like “a”, etc.

Mandatory paid training

No recruiter mentions payments for job training. Job training is always covered by the companies to train the newcomers for their jobs. If someone is asking for payments for training, they are definitely trying to scam you.

Misspellings or grammatical errors

Scammers often make common mistakes or grammatical errors that can be easily identified in fake job letters. English and French being the official languages of Canada, there is no room for such silly mistakes.

Asked to pay to secure job

No legit company ever asks for money to secure the job positions. It’s a clear red flag if you are asked for it.

No written proof

They might try to convince you over a phone call from strange numbers of internet calling and might not leave any written proof of the job letter.

No interviews or experience needed

They might not take any interviews or ask for any experience. It might look too easy to get the job. But how’s that even possible?

If you experience any or all of the above red flags while you job hunt in Canada, stop all types of communication with the team and report to the legal authorities.
