The showers stories that are perfectly integrated into the bath surface are a rising trend. The bathroom is one of the rooms of the house that sooner or later we are forced to reform, either because its design has become obsolete and we want to give it a more contemporary air, or because of the needs of the family change with the arrival of children or old people. The replacement of the shower or bathtub offers you the possibility of installing a walk-in shower in your bathroom. They are characterized by access without steps, leaving the shower area integrated into the bathroom environment, without the danger of trips and bumps with the corners. What types of models can I find?

So that the shower is flush with the floor, you have to choose the system that has the appropriate height to the floor covering and with the collection and drainage system that can be attached to the bathroom installation. There are two ways to install this type of shower: the well-known showers, made of any size and infinite materials (to cover them), and compact plates, with the integrated water collection system. Both systems work perfectly and then I show you some examples of the attractive designs that can be achieved with this type of shower.

Work showers are the most demanded

For showers, it is necessary, before coating the shower area with the material we prefer or with a prefabricated shower tray, to previously install waterproofing and a drainage system. There are specific pieces for the formation of slopes and drains that collect water in the center of the shower or on one side. This type allows showers of any size, shape and finishing material.

The complete kits, all in one piece

The complete kits incorporate all the drain elements that are installed in one piece and that are usually adjustable in height to adapt to all types of bathrooms. The set is completely waterproof to prevent damage due to water loss and can be removed, thus allowing access to the drainage system at any time.

Make no mistake with the coatings

Work showers can be covered with an infinite number of materials, giving continuity to the bathroom floor: ceramic tiles, natural stones (marble or granite), Siltstone with infinite colors and effects and small pieces of stoneware. You can also find pre-molded dishes made of stone or quartz crystals with resins of exceptional appearance, quality and enameled in a variety of colors.

Wood can be a great ally

With the expansion of the use of treated and water-resistant tropical woods, it is increasingly common to use it as a coating in bathrooms with splendid results. Wood is so dense that it does not float on water. Extremely resistant, it is perfect to place it in damp rooms, both to cover the walls and the floor of the shower.

The micro cement helps to give continuity

A floor made with micro cement and synthetic resin mortars that leads to the shower, provides us with a completely smooth and continuous surface of great resistance, waterproof and with a polished, crystallized, non-slip matte finish, which allows incorporating all kinds of drawings and designs.

An alternative: extra-flat shower trays

There are extra-flat shower trays on the market supported on the pavement with which you will create an effect quite similar to that of walk-in showers. Its reduced thickness makes the step is minimal and, also, they are flat on the sides, thus being able to rest the screen directly on it. The finest are those made with a mixture of resins with marbles (3 cm) that can be cut to size and made in any color and finish.

Things to keep in mind

The main precaution you should have this type of shower is to avoid occurring water leaks or moisture. Currently, this is not a problem, since you have countless solutions that guarantee perfect operation of the shower, but it is necessary to be advised by a specialist in the field. It is advisable to have a screen that prevents water from splashing out of the shower area and if you do not want to put it on, you must make sure that the floor of the rest of the bathroom is non-slip so you do not slip. On the other hand, these types of showers are easier to clean and maintain, have fewer corners and corners where dirt accumulates and no metal elements are necessary for the doors.
