Neon Labs — the beginning is set
Greetings, dear friends! Over the past few years we have seen the rapid growth of independent blockchains that have evolved within their ecosystems. They have been increasing the number of sub-projects, trying to be as separate from each other as possible. The most obvious examples are Polkadot, Cosmos, NEAR, Solana, Ethereum.
But today the situation is changing: we see Axelar, Evmos, and many other teams that want to connect all blockchains together.
WEB3 is still not even as good as WEB2 in its interoperability, because of smart contract installations and protocols that do not support working on other networks.
We all know such a popular project as Solana. By raising money on Coinlist auction, Solana just blew up the Internet and showed how fast and secure blockchain can be. Yes, we occasionally see glitches, but such situations were no exception to the Internet in the 1990s.
Ethereum is by far the most popular blockchain, with the highest number of developers coming in and being quite secure. It can no longer compete with Solana in terms of speed and cost of transactions, but Layer 2 solutions (Arbitrum, Optimism, etc.) are trying to fix that.
What if I tell you that Solana and Ethereum can be put together?
I want to tell you about the Neon Labs project, which has raised 40 mln $ in November, 2021.
This is a complete infrastructure that can combine all the features of Ethereum (infrastructure, signatures, ERC-20 tokens, Solidity smart contracts) and Solana (liquidity, userbase, transaction speed, low transaction price).
I will not judge what the end result will be, but I would really like to see super-fast blockchain transactions, network stability and high interoperability.
In fact, this is really the first EVM on Solana to date, so it is very interesting to see it in action.
Neon Labs will have its own $NEON token, which can be used in governance or just flip it after unlocking :D
Actually, judging by the roadmap on the site, Neon wanted to release already, but it is quite possible the current geopolitical situation (and bitcoin exchange rate) stop them from full-fledged release.
In any case, the project looks interesting enough. And don’t emphasize the fact that 3AC invested in them — it doesn’t matter much, because they got the money almost a year ago.
I really hope that Neon Labs can make a cool EVM on Solana.
