Yet, assuming Google is good just because the people that work there have mostly good intentions implies you don’t understand that systems of people can act entirely contrary to the individual morality of their inhabitants, or that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. It’s naive. People also didn’t believe their data was being spied on until Snowden revealed they were plucking it directly from Google’s servers from inside the data center. If those microphones are as good as you say, then it is doubly critical to have indicators and interlocks that cannot be disabled through firmware.
