Let’s work for net value co-creation.

Networks are cool. They are everywhere. We all network and join all kinds of networks for all kinds of reasons.

These are mostly loose configurations. Many efforts that begin with networking can potentially go much farther and deeper.

Unstitution’s distributed network is a constellation of relationships with co-creative collaborators, which we call a WorkNet. This reflects our orientation toward activation.

Right. We twisted it around to focus on the work, ways to get needed work underway, new forms of commons-based work systems and living labs birthed from the space between conventional organizations and loose networks.

There’s a sh*t-load of work to do. All kinds of work. Described in many ways. Hyper-cosmo-local-grassroots-micro; global-macro; glocal; and meso-everything-in-between.

There’s a sh*t-load of serious mindful activation to do and the net of it all is to help us collectively gain more traction achieving meaningful regenerative progress.

That is why and how the ever-expanding Unstitution WorkNet was conceived.

The WorkNet is U — Institutions, organizations, practitioners, thought leaders, academics, researchers, educators, scientists, artists, cultural creatives and ordinary, extraordinary citizens from all walks-of-life anywhere in the world — all seeking to make a positive difference in a variety of ways.

Being unstitutional.

Think tanks, link tanks and communities of practice (CoPs) have a wealth of knowledge, applied and lived experience, methodologies, tools and technologies. Much of this capacity still fails to move beyond academic research, conceptual realms or echo chambers. Much of this capacity is under-utilized. When it does reach the ground, it is often limited to small scale localized pockets. The learnings, stories, and potential are often not amplified.

To make ends meet, there are so many people doing work that they don’t or no longer value, that doesn’t inspire or make a meaningful difference. Working for organizations and in roles that fail to add meaningful value, much of this work is draining and soul-sucking — tragic and wasteful.

We are catalyzing initiatives and commons ecosystem development that can draw from a world-wide WorkNet to get needed, valued work activated, underway, funded and flowing in ways that can spawn or right scale cross-learning and more pilots.

It would be an erroneous leap to conclude that we are a like-minded bunch.

In fact, we value the ever-widening diversity of thought and gifts differing, while building bridges across and between in ways that are accessible to the collaborative communities, initiatives and coalitions that we co-catalyze, curate and convene.

To do work.

Challenging work.

Challenging ourselves.

Constructively disrupting the status quo.

Deconstructing to find new ways.

While Unstitution has some core and proven methodologies, we celebrate the broader capabilities available in our WorkNet.

Collectively we have a rich reservoir from which to draw, to meet the common and differentiated needs of the initiatives we catalyze, convene and support.

The work is underway.

There’s so much more we can activate— together.

What are your gifts?

What are you itching to do?

How can we widen access and amplify our collective impact?

Let’s collaboratively co-create, work and play.

Unstitution was birthed as a collective creative commons and nested ecosystem. We (co-)catalyze collaborative communities, initiatives and coalitions where people from across sectors, disciplines, cultures, generations and walks-of-life work together on mission critical issues. From readiness through to regenerative progress — moving beyond polarization — is how we roll. The links embedded throughout this article are a warm invitation to go a bit deeper, at any time. For more insights reflecting our ongoing journey, our suite of Unstitution articles are published on Medium. They portray a small sample of the ways we are adapting and contributing among ever-expanding commons-based communities and initiatives inspired and fuelled by citizens — perhaps better described as denizens — anywhere in the world — living into the principles and spirit that govern our collaborative work.
