We’re having some good old “technical issues”

The internet is broken.

Well, not the whole internet, but a pretty important part of it.

Amazon’s web servers power a whole bunch of sites, like Slack, Quora, Trello and even images here at upday. An issue with S3 cloud storage at Amazon’s massive data centre in Northern Virginia is causing problems for several customers, like us.

Imagine this: all the images in the world are hosted in a Dropbox, and now no one can add images to that Dropbox. While we can still keep you up-to-date with text, there is a reason why some images have disappeared from your Top News and My News.

While Amazon works on fixing S3, we’re also thinking of solutions in-house. Please bear with us.
