In Upland, these digital collectibles are virtual real estate properties which are based on real-world addresses. Properties, and the in-game currency UPX, can be purchased with fiat currency, offering players their first steps into the blockchain space in a fun and familiar way.
Uplanders don’t need to go through the hassle of setting up a third-party crypto wallet, which they then would need to connect to the app. They can simply create a player account with the nickname, email, and password.
That’s it.
In fact, Upland handles all of the boring bits, so players can simply focus on enjoying the game and collecting properties!
How do we keep Upland secure?
Account security is paramount for Upland, and we’ve devised a clever way to create EOS accounts on behalf of our users while ensuring all of their data remains secure. In the pre-launch version, each person who purchases a property will have a new EOS account created for them. These accounts will be used to store both Upland properties and the in-game currency UPX.

The private keys generated for an Upland EOS account are created on the player’s device by the Upland game client where they will be ciphered and secure. Your private key never leaves your local device unciphered, and because it’s ciphered it will not be visible to us or anybody else.
We believe the ease of private key and password management is crucial to blockchain’s mainstream success so Upland also offers a unique password recovery feature, which will involve using your email address and mobile phone to verify your identity. We also recognize that some crypto aficionados prefer to have full control of their private keys, so in the near future, you will also have the option to generate a new key pair for your account which you can store on your local wallet.
