Donald Trump’s Fighting Instinct

President Donald Trump is known as a fighter. He is a “counterintuitive counterpuncher”, said his former communications director Anthony Scaramucci.
What matters, however, is the quality of the fight. It is the why and the how of the fight that really matters in politics, especially at the presidential level.
If it is to courageously and consistently make the case for policies in furtherance of first principles against criticism and the forces of an untenable status quo, that is a good fight. — Dan Proft
However, if using fighting as a political tactic to shift blame of responsibility to subordinates and allies, well, that is not a very good fight.
The president understands who he is fighting for. However, his negativity and ridicule of other people, especially fellow Republicans, using twitter will eventually erode his base support if it doesn’t stop.
