Lala Does Life

This is an extension of my old blog, Laladoeslife. Here’s a snippet of who I am and why I created Urban Hikers…

I am a mindless eater. I eat what sounds good, what looks good, and what’s easiest to eat. I’d eat a cheeseburger meal from McD in a flash, not just because it’s cheap and it tastes good, but also coz it’s just around the corner. Fast food joints are sprouting like mushrooms on every street corner. It was easier to buy junk than make a trip to the grocery to buy healthy foods, and prepare healthy meals. I had no concept of balance.

I am no expert when it comes to nutrition or portion sizes. I am on a mission now to get myself informed so I can make better choices for myself, on what I will allow my body to take in. For the longest time I’ve ignored my weight issues. Now that I’m in my late thirties, I have to make a choice. I’ve already lived probably half my life span. How many more years can my body handle the poor diet, or low inactivity levels? As my body wears down with age, how long can my bones carry the excess weight? It’s like I’m carrying an extra person inside me. I shiver at the thought that I may not have enough time left to help myself. My body deserve better.

I have done many fitness activities since I started my weight loss journey, but the one I fell in love with was hiking. I just completely love the outdoors! That’s why I decided to blog about my hiking experiences, coz I want to remember them all especially when the time comes when I have to stop climbing coz I will be having a family soon (by faith I claim it!) I hope I can motivate at least one person to choose to be healthy, or get dirty and try hiking… Or at least be entertained. =)
