Happy Children’s Day? [Drabble Day 14/30]
While I was at the restaurant waiting for you, I watched two children sitting at a corner table.
A boy and a girl. Maybe fourteen and twelve.
Before I could wonder where their guardian was, they took off their shoes, and shook off crumpled cash from them.
Beside them were bags, of clothes, maybe, so I wondered if they were eloping.
Or were they in love?
I watched as they straightened out the notes, arranging by denomination, until they saw me see them.
The manner with which they hurriedly packed up made me believe they were thieves counting their loot.
