I’ve learned that there is always a balance to manage between data and innovation. As a data nerd, I came to realize that as you focus on data, funnels, triangles, and optimization, it’s hard to get out of the constraints of the product to do something wacky.

If we kept optimizing Yevvo, we would never have created Meerkat, and if we kept optimizing Meerkat we would never have created Houseparty. And there was no way to validate houseparty (at least in our eyes) through data within Meerkat.
