Oh goodness… how unnerving…

I love Coffeelicious and have been a follower for quite a while. I truly love the stories and when I can, I’ll take mini break from my crazy busy day to read the latest most engaging story. Some Coffeelicious stories, make me laugh out loud, right at my desk. I’ve shared many with my co-workers. However…

Dear folks at Coffeelicious, as an HR Director, I find this particular post extremely discouraging. Business wise, it is never a good idea to publicly detail employee issues, even if the employee may perhaps have been a volunteer at the organization.

Involuntary separations are most often difficult, for the employee and for the company, no matter what the circumstances. I assure you, adding “fuel to the fire” by publicly posting this person’s name and her potential “infractions” cannot help the situation. There are many other ways this could have been dealt with.

I would suggest you retract this post and handle this as confidentially as you can, notifying only those affected and those who are “on a need to know basis.” Even in this instance, where there are publicly distributed stories, the entire online community, I would believe, is not on a need to know basis.
