Whereas having offers or negotiations in writing means that the evidence is there for people to go back to if they need to confirm details or recall information.
There is a benefit to written communication though, and that is the paper trail.

Yes, I agree having everything in writing is super important. I think thats why Haseeb Qureshi had mentioned in the first part of this post to ALWAYS send a follow up email specifying details about the negotiated terms right after the call, so everyone is on the same page and there is always a paper trail to refer back to. I used it very recently and I can vouch that it is very useful :)
