As a dyslexic I find this sort of article somewhat patronising.

Hi Shane, the article certainly wasn’t intended to be patronizing and we apologize if it came of that way. To be honest, in the early stages of the article we did struggle with how to define dyslexia but decided it was best to stick to the more official medical definitions as we wanted to article to be as fact-driven as possible. Our goal was to encourage others to take accessibility into account when designing for users (which is why we also wrote an article on designing for color blindness).

About the spelling of dyslexia; fun fact — the official term for the phobia of long words is “Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia”. Someone clearly loves irony!
