When most people think of Kentucky, they often think of three things: Bluegrass, Louisville, and the Kentucky Derby. While these things are quintessential aspects of what makes Kentucky, Kentucky, there is so much more to the great state that often gets left behind. If you find yourself in Kentucky looking for things to do, here are a few of my favorite things to do in the state.

“Kentucky is a gem of the south,” Brandon Bell of St. Louis, Missouri says, “People don’t realize, but there is a lot of see and do in the state. Every time I go back, I find something new.”

Mammoth Cave National Park

This massive series of caves encompasses over 400 miles across Kentucky. Mammoth Cave is full of history — it’s even known to be home to natives all the way back to the first millennium B.C. Here, you can kayak, camp, hike, and so much more.

Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory

For fans of baseball, the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory is a must-stop. Here, you can learn about the history of the Louisville Slugger and legendary players who used it throughout their career. The museum is home to bats owned by Hank Aaron, Joe DiMaggio, and Babe Ruth.

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park

Known as the “Niagara of the South,” Cumberland Falls is a beautiful scene for nature lovers. View the falls, go fishing, summing, hiking, and other guided activities. Under a full moon, the falls show the only “moonbow” in the western hemisphere.
