You do not need to build a new application at all !

This came as surprise to one of my customer who was consulting me to develop his next web project. I was asked of my opinion about on his project, and after due diligence by our team, that is what we found. I get asked similar questions everyday, as I head web & mobile application development at ESIPICK.

Mostly, I get asked by budding entrepreneurs trying to solve an existing problem in a creative way, which requires special and customize work flows. One shoe does not fit all, seems to apply best with most web applications out there, although there are so many applications (open-sourced) or proprietary, either they do not fully satisfy the requirements or they just do not in the specific way, entrepreneurs are very picky, sometimes its just that bit that they think is critical to their success and will not like to compromise.

But wait, not all people in the world are entrepreneurs and not all development in the world is being done to answer an existing problem in a new way. As a matter of fact larger chunk of software development is being done for conventional businesses or for a conventional need. In order to keep pace with modern technologies businesses have to go for newer solutions. However, they are already product built to answer what they require. This is a huge array of open-source almost ready to be installed and put to use. What I found that people generally have a number of reasons why do fail to recognize such products , top reasons are

1- Ignorant of the product itself
2- Limited knowledge of the Product & apprehension about its usability
3- limited tech knowledge and apprehension about installation and maintenance.

Honestly for a non-tech person this is’t a small deal. So here’s my suggestion to all businesses considering to build their new application. Clearly put all your requirement on a electronic document, do google search on existing software that full fill these requirements, consult a tech friend if it small project, or consider hiring a technology team that can help you find, customize and maintain the product. The difference might not come in Price tag, but it would definitely come in the time it takes the software to come to your use, and price you pay for fixing the bugs and adding or editing features.
