Is the NFL in a death spiral?

I’ve been watching people watch football my whole life, and you're right: the ‘blue collar fan’ is the one that matters and the one that cares.

People rich enough to afford consistent game attendence aren’t the ones buying logoed beer steins and fat heads for their basement rec rooms, aren’t passionately moved by the success of ‘our’ team.

Maybe the fortunes of the NFL are inextricably tied to the waning fortunes of the lower-middle class, working class, or whatever we all avoid calling it. And in our current moneymoney, winner-take-all society, that market just isn’t considered valuable enough anymore.
