Introducing Buckets
Joel Rosen
After 10 weeks of late nights and working weekends, I’ve finished my side project - Buckets.me

I built it basically becuase I couldnt find an awesome ‘create your own stash’ kind of tool, apart from one or two, which I found to be fiddly, and not with the kind of design meets usability vibe I was after.
One of the main things I was looking for whilst hunting for this sort of tool, was that it could visually reference my favourite sites and online resources, and even better still — auto create visuals based on a url.
So I got to work, played around with some php, tweaking the hell out of wordpress and I’m super pleased to have finished up this baby!
At the moment, it’s completely free for as many buckets, folders and resources as you like. If it starts to get some interest, I’ll bring it “outside, in” with the team at my design studio orca working on it to add some awesome new features. These are things that I would of loved to have in place already but working on a web app as a one man band, on top of your 50 hour work week takes it toll after 10 weeks!
Here’s a brief roadmap of what’s planned:
- Awesome search filters: search all users buckets, search just your buckets, search within specific folders, search through all your resources etc
- Explore Buckets: I’ve built this with the idea of it becoming more of a community, where you can search other peoples buckets and add their resources to your own
- Collaborate: Invite other users, friends and co-workers etc to contribute to your buckets
- Not just links: Add notes, images, files, videos and other content to your buckets, could be really helpful for things like guides, or tutorials etc
- And loads more!!
I’m really excited to hear your thoughts, so hit me up with any ideas or your thoughts on the project so far!
Thanks,
Joel
