My iPhone is truly an extension of myself. Before the introduction of the iPhone (or any smart phone) my pockets were filled with photos in my wallet, a pocket dictionary, and a contact card with emergency contacts. Now literally the only thing I have to carry is my drivers license because everything is on my phone including debit and credit card information (Apple Pay)
The extension numbs us in a way because now I no longer have to think or memorize things. If I am asked a question I don’t know, all o have to do is press one of the many internet enabled apps on my phone and look it up. Within seconds I will have an answer. On the other hand the extension extends us because it holds so much information in a small vessel. I haven’t purchased a physical textbook for class in over 2years and most professors are fine with me using on of my many Apple devices to view the downloaded content.
The implications of having an iPhone or smart phone (in any community) is that everyone has one and if you don’t you are left behind. You’re even frowned upon if you don’t have the latest one.
