Murali Paudel, a farmer in Dhaitar ward no 2, Mahadevsthan shows us how he uses a leaf colour chart (LCC) to determine the nitrogen requirement in his paddy field. He claims that in this trial plot, he has skipped chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and has relied solely on Dhaicha, (sesbania sp.) for nutrient requirements. Mr Poudel is one of many farmers, who have been trained into climate smart agriculture, under ICIMOD and CEAPRED’s climate smart village (CSV) programme. The CSV programme is being implemented by CEAPRED in 3 VDCs in Kavrepalanchok district.
