It is a page out of the real life experience turned movie of Captain Chesley Sullenberger ata Sully. The captain who used his presence of mind to save the lives of 233 people including crew members and those in the cockpit, was awarded the highest medal of honour by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Hero of Russia medal was awarded to Damir Yusupov who managed to smoothly land his disabled passenger plane in a cornfield after a flock of birds hit both engines and knocked them out. The young 41 years of age pilot was evidently embarrassed at the accolade but took it in humility. The medals are awarded for extraordinary service to the state.

A quick landing, it is reported, was his only chance and he was not afraid of handling it. Only 3 people on board were hospitalized and people across the nation have been praising the young man.

Hats off to Russia for awarding and applauding what really needs to be. It is definitely praise that makes us work harder at what we might already be good at.
