AURORA’s version of “Into the Unknown”

“Who is she?”

That seemed to be the question when the tiara-wearing young woman popped onto the screen during the red carpet and was sitting amongst the other celebrities during the Academy Awards.

This adorable and eccentric woman is 23-year-old Aurora Aksnes, or more commonly known as AURORA. Norwegian born, AURORA has been singing and writing music since the very young age of six. She was a feature of Frozen 2 “Into the Unknown” as the siren that calls out to Elsa.

AURORA released her first full-length album called “All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend” in March of 2016. It made waves by charting across eastern Europe. It even topped the chart in Norway, her home country, reached the Top 30 and the Billboard 200 in the United States. Some of her songs, such as “Running With the Wolves,” “Runaway,” and “Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) were featured on T.V. shows like “Teen Wolf,” “Girls,” “The Flash,” “The Following,” and many more. AURORA promoted this album on the late-night television show “The Late Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” singing her song “Conquer.”

AURORA released her second full-length album, “Step 1: Infections of a Different Kind,” in September of 2018. It returned her to Norway’s Top 10. While the themes stayed the same, this is the first time AURORA explored politics and sexuality with songs such as the self-titled song “Infections of a Different Kind,” and “Queendom.”

Her third LP, “Step 2: A Different Kind of Human,” was released in June of 2019. Which also followed similar themes as Step 1, and included songs like “Animal,” and “Seed.”

AURORA’s angelic voice and unique style can be highlighted on cover songs from interviews that she did she P3, where she covered Ariana Grande’s “God is a Woman,” and Imagine Dragon’s “Believer.” As well Pandora Sessions where she performed her song “Running With the Wolves,” and she even performed during 2015’s Nobel Peace Prize Concert.

Now that we are seemingly caught up, let us fast forward to the Academy Awards where this beautiful young woman performed with several “Elsa’s” during the stage for Frozen 2 “Into the Unknown.” This is also not the first time she has been apart of the Disney family. AURORA performed “Baby Mine,” for the trailer of the live-action version of Dumbo.

She has recently released a single, “Exist for Love,” which I strongly recommend checking out.

If you haven’t already, I suggest checking out her music. She is wonderfully unique and her music is incredibly poignant.

Check out AURORA today!

Until next time, Cheers!
