2022 Civil Rights Trip

--

In June Linda Johnson and I joined 44 other people of all ages, religions, races, and cultures on a civil rights “pilgrimage” to Alabama. Besides the educational and emotional impact, we shared an intergenerational, cross-cultural personal sharing experience. Each day I sat on the bus with a different person whom I didn’t know and who became my friend. There’s nothing quite like being next to another person for several hours to invite deeper conversation. This was a vacation like no other!

After our trip, a few nerdy participants (one of whom was a professional photographer)

reviewed the thousands of pictures and videos to piece together a video album of our cumulative experiences. This 7:31 minute video reveals a little of the flavor of this pilgrimage. Please share these experiences with me at this site:

Thanks to Zion Lutheran Church, a diverse, downtown faith community, for inviting Linda and me as well as members of Eliminate Racism 815, of other churches, and of our synagogue to join their well-planned trip.
