🔰 The 48-Hours Sleepless Journey Begins:

Oh sorry its Actually 72 hours. Thinking How??

Our journey as volunteers was no ordinary endeavor. It surpassed the 48 hours of the Designathon, stretching far beyond that timeframe. Before the clock began ticking, I dedicated an epic 48 hours before as the PR Lead, working tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare for this extraordinary event. Talk about commitment! My unwavering dedication extended to an astounding 72 hours of non-stop action, driven by sheer passion and a determination to create an unforgettable experience. Who needs sleep when you’re fueled by the mission to craft design magic? Admittedly, I was a bit exhausted when the challenge commenced, but I participated with a bang, leaving an indelible mark.

It was an intense race against the clock ⏰, but I’m excited to walk you through my process. Let’s grab a virtual cup of coffee and explore this design journey. ☕️

🌠 AI’s Magic Touch: Empowering the Journey✨

Ahem, ahem! Yes, I harnessed the power of AI! As AI continues to revolutionize the design world, I fearlessly plunged into its depths. Embracing the future, I leveraged the capabilities of OpenAI’s ChatGPT throughout this project. With its invaluable assistance, I crafted a precise problem statement and made informed decisions at every step of the way. Together, we embarked on a journey of creativity and innovation.

Unraveling the Riddles: Paving the Way to Clarity🔍

Before jumping to build the UI solution I wanted to get clarity on what, why, and whom + 69 other questions for building this feature and how will it help the users as well as the business.

Journey of Discovery: Uniting Minds on the Path🌐

Core Idea of this Feature!!

The core idea of the feature is to incentivize customers to make purchases on the Nykaa Fashion platform by offering them points that can be redeemed for rewards. The point system will be designed to encourage customers to make repeat purchases and engage with the platform regularly.

What is the problem that the users are facing?

Users currently face a significant problem in the Nykaa Fashion App: the absence of a point-based redemption system. Without this system, users are unable to earn and redeem points for discounts, free products, or other incentives. The lack of a rewards program limits their access to exclusive benefits, personalized rewards, and a sense of accomplishment, resulting in a less engaging and fulfilling shopping experience.

How will this feature help the users?

Implementing a point-based redemption system in the Nykaa Fashion App will offer several benefits to the users, including:

How will this feature help the users?

What are the Factors contributing to the problem for the User:

  • Lack of tangible incentives for repeat purchases/regular engagement.
  • Limited customer engagement beyond basic shopping functionality.
  • Missed opportunities to foster customer loyalty.
  • Incomplete shopping experience without a point-based system.
  • Competitive disadvantage compared platforms with rewards programs.
  • Missed opportunities for data collection and analysis.

👩‍👩‍👧‍👧 Who are my users?

When I understood the problem statement a bit, it was time to understand for whom are you building a product. So, I went ahead with doing User Research of who are the particular users of Nykaa Fashion and moreover, The users of Nykaa Fashion who are the intended beneficiaries of the point-based redemption system. I Found out👇

Users/Audience of Nykaa Fashion

  • The majority of Nykaa Fashion’s audience is Female (59.94%). Male users make up 40.06% of the audience.
  • Age: The largest age group of visitors to Nykaa Fashion are 25–34 year olds (39.21%). Other age groups include 18–24 year olds (37.44%), 35–44 year olds(11.53%), 45–54 year olds(6.76%), 55–64 year olds (3.51%).
  • Location: India is the largest market for Nykaa Fashion, with 99.18% of the audience coming from the country. Other countries with significant audiences include the United States (0.44%), the United Kingdom (0.23%), Canada (0.17%), and Australia (0.12%).
  • Interests: The most popular interests among Nykaa Fashion’s audience include fashion, beauty, shopping, and lifestyle. Other interests include travel, food, music, and movies.

Considering Above Data Our Targeted Users who are the intended beneficiaries of the point-based redemption system would be:

Targeted Users

The way my targeted audience was refining out, I went ahead with considering all the Factors affecting My Users and My Decisions. And Further along, we will discuss the Business Side of the Problem.

Implementing a point-based rewards program can have both pros and cons. Here are some of the key advantages and disadvantages:

Pros and Cons of implementing this point based reward Program

Overall, implementing a point-based rewards program can have significant benefits for a platform, but careful consideration should be given to the potential costs and risks involved. The program should be well-designed, with clear goals and guidelines, to maximize its effectiveness and minimize its downsides.

🤔Enough about Users, Let’s Think Business. Business. Business…

An important aspect of the design challenge was to address a problem that could have a positive impact on the business thereby improving key metrics. Certainly! Let’s shift our focus to the business perspective.

Here are some key considerations and potential benefits of implementing a point-based redemption system for Nykaa Fashion from business standpoint:

Key Considerations and Potential Benefits from Business Standpoint

These business-focused benefits highlight the potential impact and advantages that a well-designed point-based redemption system can bring to Nykaa Fashion. But these were the Business Advantages of Implementing a Point Based-System, But Now As We are building a feature and there are some Metrics that needed to get targeted so that the Business could get corpus profit.

So the Targeted Business Metrics or the Metrics getting affected are!!

The Targeted Business Metrics or the Metrics getting affected

But these are the overall business metrics getting affected, but as a UX Designer, I would not move forward while considering everything as a point to work upon, so I rectified and prioritized what needs to be chosen and worked upon.

Targeted Business Metrics

These were the Prioritised and Final Business Metrics I will be Targeting!!

  • Customer retention: Rewards and incentives foster loyalty, reducing churn and improving retention.
  • Brand loyalty: Strengthen loyalty, ensuring customers choose Nykaa Fashion over competitors.
  • Customer Loyalty: Retention rate and percentage of repeat customers.

Now that all our details of the users and the Metrics, Let’s talk about some of the Assumptions and Constraints I developed for this project to be continued!!

I took some Assumptions, I considered while building. It includes the assumptions I took for the User and the Business as Well

Some Assumptions, I considered while building — {For User and Business}

These things matter a lot while building something while considering User Experience. And whenever you are building a product or any feature you need to have some Constraints. Because if you don’t have constraints you will keep building endlessly, without having a proper stop to where to end.

I considered some Constraints that helped me Narrow Down my approach while building this feature:

Considered Constraints

If I implement the Feature, Users will achieve the following Goals/Needs:

User will achieve these following Goals/Needs

All My Research made me understand all about the User’s and Business Goals which are shown down here:

Understanding the Problem Statement and The Users who will be using gave me an idea of how to proceed by considering What to accept and what to reject. Also, What are the things I don’t even have to look at!!

These Considerations, Made me understand, But there are some competitors who have applied this exact or similar strategy to build this feature…Which so on lead me to do Competitors Research on Nykaa Fashion. Also To gain a deeper understanding of the market I conducted a competitor analysis.

🤔 Impactful Decisions that Shaped this Journey

Every project is a journey filled with pivotal moments that can make or break its success.

🦗 Critical Decision 1:

How will People Redeem?

In the Nykaa Fashion app’s Prive Coins system, this critical decision revolves around determining how this system will get deployed and How users will redeem their earned coins for rewards and benefits. Four options are considered:

After careful consideration, the chosen approach is to integrate the Loyalty Program (Option C) and have a dedicated “Redeem Section” (Option B). This decision aims to strike a balance between simplicity and engagement. Users can access the Redeem Section for focused redemption experience, while the integration with the Loyalty Program adds depth and exclusivity to the rewards, encouraging users to actively participate in the Prive Coins system and fostering long-term loyalty.

🙅‍♂️ Problem and Decision Explanation:

The challenge was to design an engaging redemption process for users, allowing them to utilize their earned points effectively. The decision made was to implement a loyalty program in conjunction with a dedicated Redeem Section. This approach offers users a seamless experience to redeem points while enhancing their loyalty and satisfaction.

🐺 How Might We influenced in this Critical Decision:

🧱Why (My Reasoning):

The decision to integrate a loyalty program with a dedicated Redeem Section addresses the primary goal of enhancing user engagement and satisfaction. This approach provides a seamless and rewarding experience for users, encouraging them to participate actively in the redemption process. By offering exclusive rewards & personalized recommendations, the loyalty program creates a sense of value for users, while the Redeem Section ensures a convenient and user-friendly platform to redeem their earned points.

🥬 Considerations and Use Cases // Advantages of this Decision // Limitations of this Decision:

💁‍♂️Conclusion:

Integrating a loyalty program with the Redeem Section ensures a user-centric approach to point redemption. Personalized rewards and an intuitive redemption process motivate users to actively participate in the loyalty program and feel valued. This creates a win-win situation, fostering stronger brand loyalty and driving the success of the Prive Coins system. Regular evaluation and improvement will optimize the loyalty program for a delightful user journey. The seamless integration enhances the overall user experience and contributes to the long-term success of Prive Coins on Nykaa Fashion.

🦗 Critical Decision 2:

👨‍👨‍👦‍👦 Unifying Prive Loyalty from Nykaa Beauty to Nykaa Fashion

This critical decision of whether to integrate Nykaa Beauty’s successful loyalty program, Nykaa Prive, into the Nykaa Fashion app. The decision revolves around the strategic move to leverage the existing loyalty program’s popularity and success to enhance the user experience and drive engagement on the fashion platform. By introducing a proper point system and seamless integration, I aim to offer users a unified loyalty experience across all branches of the brand.

🙅‍♂️ Problem and Decision Explanation:

The problem is that Nykaa Fashion lacks a loyalty program to retain and engage its customers effectively. The decision is to introduce Nykaa Prive Points, a point-based loyalty program, to incentivize customer retention and enhance the overall shopping experience.

🐺 How Might We influenced in this Critical Decision:

🧱Why (My Reasoning):

Introducing the Nykaa Prive Points system in the Nykaa Fashion app addresses the lack of customer retention strategies. Loyalty programs have proven effective in boosting customer engagement, increasing repeat purchases, and fostering brand loyalty. By rewarding customers for their continued patronage, Nykaa Fashion can create a more meaningful and lasting relationship with its user base.

🚸Nykaa Beauty’s To Nykaa Fashion:

Nykaa Beauty’s loyalty program, Nykaa Prive, is designed to reward and engage loyal customers of the beauty e-commerce platform. The program offers a range of benefits and exclusive privileges to members, creating a personalized and rewarding shopping experience. Here is a brief overview of Nykaa Prive and its features:

Overall, Nykaa Prive is designed to enhance customer engagement, loyalty, and satisfaction by offering a wide array of rewards and benefits. It aims to create a sense of exclusivity and appreciation for its loyal customer base, encouraging repeat purchases and brand advocacy.

🥬 Considerations and Use Cases // Advantages of this Decision // Limitations of this Decision:

💁‍♂️Conclusion:

That is why I went ahead with Introducing the Existing Prive point system from Nykaa Beauty to Nykaa Fashion.

👨‍🏭 This is How I Implemented

🦗 Critical Decision 3:

🙈 Focusing on Earning vs. Redeeming Part in the Prive Coins System:

This critical decision involves determining the primary focus of the Prive Coins loyalty program:

The decision involves striking a balance between motivating users to accumulate points through various actions (earning) and offering appealing and accessible rewards to encourage point redemption (redeeming). Finding the right equilibrium ensures that the Prive Coins system effectively drives user engagement, fosters loyalty, and contributes to the overall success of the loyalty program on Nykaa Fashion.

🐺 How Might We influenced in this Critical Decision:

🧱Why (My Reasoning):

Finding the right balance between Earning and Redeeming is vital as it influences user motivation and satisfaction. Prioritizing Earning can drive increased engagement and loyalty, encouraging users to actively participate in the program. On the other hand, focusing on Redeeming ensures that users can enjoy tangible rewards and benefits, creating a sense of instant gratification and value for their accumulated points.

🥬 Considerations and Use Cases // Advantages of this Decision // Limitations of this Decision:

💁‍♂️Conclusion:

That is why I went ahead with Creating and Maintaining a Balance Between Earning and Redeeming.

👨‍🏭 This is How I Balanced

🦗 Critical Decision 4:

🔫Guiding the User Journey: Integrating Nudges

This critical decision involves incorporating nudges throughout the Nykaa Fashion app’s interface to provide subtle visual cues and prompts that guide users and highlight important features, rewards, and promotions. By strategically placing nudges, Nykaa Fashion aims to create a seamless and intuitive user journey, making app more user-friendly and enjoyable.

🙅‍♂️ Problem and Decision Explanation:

The problem addressed in this decision is how to improve the overall user experience and ensure that users engage effectively with the Nykaa Fashion app. The decision involves incorporating nudges or touchpoints throughout the app’s interface to guide users and highlight important features, rewards, and promotions. Nudges are subtle visual cues and prompts strategically placed to encourage specific actions or interactions, making the user journey more intuitive and enjoyable.

🐺 How Might We influenced in this Critical Decision:

🧱Why (My Reasoning):

Integrating nudges in the user interface can significantly enhance the user experience by reducing friction points and promoting engagement with the Prive Coins system. Nudges provide valuable guidance and assistance to users without being intrusive, fostering a sense of ease and confidence while using the app. Moreover, they create an element of delight and surprise, elevating the overall user experience.

🥬 Considerations and Use Cases // Advantages of this Decision // Limitations of this Decision:

💁‍♂️Conclusion:

Integrating nudges in the Nykaa Fashion app enhances user experience and engagement with the Prive Coins system. Thoughtfully designed nudges provide guidance, promote offers, and facilitate task completion, creating a seamless user journey. Leveraging user feedback ensures a user-centric experience, fostering loyalty and brand engagement. Visual representations can include annotated screenshots and animated GIFs, showcasing nudges’ impact on user interactions.

👨‍🏭 This is How I Nudged
