Yeah most references (like this one) stack and combine the Principles. In the above reference, you have ‘masking’ (continuous change in utility from avatar to header), and ‘offset & delay’ (temporal differentiation of objects). Material uses curved motion paths which aren’t a principle, more like a technique. My opinion (and I argue forcefully against this) is that the fade outs are a motion/usability ‘cop out’ in that are a missed usability opportunity. Fade outs are almost exclusively non-narrative, which I find annoying.
