Algérie Telecom — You’ve done one thing right

Anyone who is familiar with the Algerian internet service provider, Algérie Telecom, will have at least one bad story to tell you about their experience with the company and its services.

What we’re interested in here, however, is UX. When entering their commercial agency in Bir Mourad Rais, Algiers, I noticed this:

Ticket dispenser at the Algérie Telecom commercial agency in Bir Mourad Rais, Algiers

Their ticket dispenser machine hits it just right in terms of user experience. When in front of this machine:

  • you do not wonder at all, there is only one button to press, no other noise but the logo of the company and what is clearly a hole from which you get the ticket.
  • the button is prominently displayed (3D shape), in good contrast with the background color (white on black).
  • a light on the upper left corner indicates that the machine is ON, but does not distract from the rest.

All in all, the machine serves its purpose well, while offering a decent user experience.

Can we make it even better?

I’m thinking:

  • a bigger, centered button,
  • better alignment between the logo and the ticket hole.

What do you think? Let us know :)
