INAUGURAL CEREMONY OF THE EUROPE-UZBEKISTAN ASSOCIATION FOR ECONOMIC COOPERATION (EUROUZ)
On November 12, 2019, the inauguration ceremony of the Europe-Uzbekistan Association for Economic Cooperation (EUROUZ) took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Kingdom of Belgium in Brussels.
The ceremony was attended by the official delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Mr. A.Kamilov, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Mr. S.Safaev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis (the Parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan; the leaders of a number of leading European companies such as Shell, British Petroleum, Knorr-Bremse A.G. McDermott, Picanol, TechnipFMC, APCO Worldwide; the representatives of associations and chambers of commerce established between Uzbekistan and the individual European countries; as well as officials of the European Union organizations in Brussels, the European Investment Bank and the Foreign Ministry of the Kingdom of Belgium.
Mr. Safoyev said: “I am happy to salute the leaders of European companies who have been working with Uzbekistan with a great success during a long period of time and who are our reliable partners.”.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Mr. Mangold said “It was a great pleasure that we can have this evening exchange of ideas linking Europe together with Uzbekistan and the business and political community of both areas.”.
During the event, representatives of the European business community were informed about the progress of large-scale reforms in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the creation of a favorable investment climate. It was stressed that the development of relations with Europe was given the priority, especially in terms of economic cooperation. It was also noted that it is important to create new cooperation mechanisms that meet the current demands for better and more productive dialogue.
The event also included a presentation of investment opportunities and projects implemented in the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as a presentation of new mechanisms of work and cooperation within the framework of the Europe-Uzbekistan Association for Economic Cooperation (EUROUZ).
As a result of the event, the parties agreed to make the most of the new platform to deepen the cooperation with the European business community and support the mutual understanding and collaboration.
The Europe-Uzbekistan Association for Economic Cooperation (EUROUZ) is designed to assist the European business community, as well as the official representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in strengthening investment and trade cooperation, creating a more effective dialogue with potential partners and investors. One of the priority areas of activity will be to provide the European business with timely, relevant and high-quality information on economic opportunities and projects in the Republic of Uzbekistan for deepening mutually beneficial interaction at all levels.
EUROUZ is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that aims to take the relationship between Uzbekistan and the business community of Europe to a qualitatively new level. The headquarter of the association is located in Brussels with a representative office in Tashkent.
