In this article, we will discuss how to create a new WiFi network using someone else's WiFi.

Please note that these steps only apply to modems, not Android device hotspots.

If there are many WiFi networks around you, this guide can be helpful.

Let's dive into the tutorial:

  1. Connect to the modem’s WiFi network using any method of your choice, such as using Wifiphiser or directly asking the owner for the password.
  2. Log in to the modem’s IP address through a browser. Find the IP address on your device, go to the connected WiFi, and check the details to find the Gateaway IP address. Copy and paste it into the browser.
  3. Enter the login username and password, then click Login. The default passwords for Indihome ZTE modems are admin/admin or user/user, while for Indihome Huawei modems, it’s telecomadmin/admintelecom.
  4. Select the Network menu, go to WLAN, and click SSID Settings.
  5. The first WiFi will be listed under SSID1. To add a new WiFi, in the Choose SSID menu, select (SSID1, SSID2, SSID3, SSID4) - if you’re the admin, choose SSID2. Check the Enable SSID box, fill in Maximum Clients as needed, name the SSID, and set the priority according to the WMM categories.
  6. To create a WiFi password, go to the Security menu under SSID Settings. Choose the previously created SSID, select Authentication Type WPA/WPA2-PSK, enter the WPA Passphrase (password), and choose WPA Encryption Algorithm TKIP+AES.
  7. Click Submit. The network will reload briefly, and wait until the WiFi reconnects.

Check your device to see the new WiFi network you've created.
