Bellwether Drawing from Zootopia(w.o. A Fancy Tablet)
I just want to share with you my drawing last week.
Bellwether has many good details: she is girly, gentle, hard-working, harmless(at least at the beginning). She looks like the coworker you have in the office, the one helped you with extra work and listened to your complaints. And she is under-appreciated by her boss…maybe that’s what a lot of hard-working people feel like (?).
Anyway, the character setting quickly got my empathy!
This is the original Disney Artwork and I love it! I own a pair of eyeglasses of the same style!

Here is my sketch: I imagined her as a cute cartoon girl! Since the eyeglasses are a little distracting, first I drew without them on her face.

So using Adobe Capture, I transferred my sketch from Creative Cloud Library to Illustrator, and copy-paste it to Affinity Designer (which I hope to write about later). I didn’t use Sketch for coloring this time, because its lack of vector brush/pixel painting feature.
I don’t own a fancy drawing tablet, so the coloring is a bit of muscle workout…
The first colored version of Bellwether:

Her fluffs didn’t look very real, or fluffy…
In addition to the fluffs, I also added a simple background for her: the signature little sheep pattern, and some swirls (I love this shape for no reason…well, maybe swirls remind me of ramen noodles drawing in cartoons…).
Added eyeglasses, a little golden bell as well. So here is version 2:

Without arms she looked like a bobblehead, so I added a posture, and an office table, a name plate (for Bellwether, a piece of paper and a pin just did the work).

Overall, she doesn’t look exactly like a sheep, but I think she’s cute this way. Hope you like it, too!

Bonus for Zootopia fans, here is a Zootopia Fan Art Group on Deviant Art (Try Everything). I recently was invited to join the group and make contributions. Several of my drawings were added the collection. Check it out, there are so many good work there for you to explore.
