We are fortunate enough to live in a world where innovation is happening rapidly. Watching Fictional movies excites us and provides an adrenaline rush. And the best part about them is that sometimes we see similar fantasies come to life, in our ‘reality’. Thanks to the advancements we have made in the recent, last couple of decades.
Talking about such technologies and ‘reality’, We have Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (collectively mentioned here as XR — Extreme Reality) . We all have heard about these terms in newspapers and various applications (“apps”) such as Snapchat, Pokemon GO. The best part about this is that they provide a unique and an amazing experience which sometimes become part of wonderful memories in our mind. During such XR experiences, We feel that we are in a different place and for a moment we don’t care about the actual reality because we are so happy experiencing the new environment, the new things around us which we find keenly Interesting (as our mind is processing a lot of new things it has encountered out of sudden). This is what it is all about! Having an experience which makes you happy from the hustle-bustle of life which people are (already?) dreading.
According to this beautiful infographic by Hire Intelligence UK, 63% of VR is being used in Training and Simulation. In general, one opts for training when they are learning something new (for the first time). Gratefully, We have now an amazing piece of technology which can teach even complex subjects in very intuitive manner. Thus, pointing back to the “experience”.
HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Playstation VR are amongst the highly advanced and powerful VR headsets which are meant to tackle graphic-intense video games on them. Not to forget, We have a relatively lower priced alternative i.e. Oculus Quest coming soon to consumers. These headsets are proving to be the best compatible hardware available for the upcoming XR content filled with richer experience.
From the perspective of developers, artists, XR enthusiasts or anyone who is in the journey of adapting the “XR” to our lifestyle, We should put more emphasis on building the experience which we “as a human” would love to be a part of. By keeping it simple with real-like interactions, more visuals and audio, less textual content, Your XR content can be more interesting, intriguing and most of all, Become a wholesome experience.
